What do you guys think of a minimum timer locking you in for conflict zones and powerplay zones?

Fascism is a characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition etc.

It seems the OP wants to dictate how other people want to play this game to suit their desired play style.
I'm the opposition, the defiant opposition.

The playstyle is already PVP oriented.

On this forum, it has always been thus. If in any doubt, look into the hotel.

What happens in a CZ if the RNG makes 3/4 of the starting ships part of the hostile faction?

The opposing players can correct it.

Also in the new BGS all states automatically default to none over time.

In this case this would be a times of war. Where players have pushed them into wars.

Also not sure about if and any changes come to powerplay. But again they would be left up to the opposing players to balance it out.

Quite frankly, it's a terrible idea.

When you say 'powerplay zones', do you mean crime sweeps, military strikes, violent protests, and resistance pockets? I assume by conflict zones, you mean any/all conflict zones related to BGS states?

Regardless, it's a terrible idea.

Yes those, and why would it be a terrible idea?

Just because you dont want to be locked or killed in a war against others?

They are meant to be farmed. Why are there NPC's and minions in league, or NPCS in guildwars 2 for capture points?

Cmon you gotta do better than that.

You just said they are for PvP. Which is it going to be, farming NPCs or PvP combat? And I have no idea about this "league" or "guild wars" since I never played them, whatever they are, or are part of.

That's fine if you're playing in open as a wing, but someone playing solo may struggle to do that. I agree with the idea of challenge, but this might be seen as pushing people away from CZs in solo mode if there's a possibility of an unwinnable battle. I don't think Frontier would be keen to do that based on previous announcements about multiple modes.

Okay, so basically you farm merits here.

The goal is to farm while the other side is farming. If people are caught out of position. You have a chance to kill them.

When you kill them they lose their merits. They lose progress against you. Which eventually they lose those zones.

These zones are choke points anyways for people to gather and fight.

Kind of like Community goals are right now.

The amount of people that dont understand whats in the game is astonishing. I mean no offense. But after all this time. The same people playing this game over a long period of time. And they dont understand why losing Rep, Conflict zones, Merits, Rebuys is important and what all this stuff is for is mind boggling.

I suspect that removing solo/PG players from CZs is, rather than an upshot, the exact intent of this idea in the first place. It's pretty much an Open Only PP/BGS thread by stealth.

Don't like the idea at all. I'm not queueing up for an arena, I'm dropping into a conflict zone in a ship that is fully capable of jumping out of it. If I can make someone else jump out, then I've helped my side win. It makes zero difference to me whether their ship blew up or left a wake, making the lock in period a pointless limitation. Let's be honest, it's really just a poorly veiled design to force people into rebuys once engaged in pvp combat, so all the talk about skill, improvement, outfitting, engineering could also apply to the aggressor making changes to their build/strategy to keep someone from jumping in the first place.

Here's why it's a bad idea, and honestly a bit ironic.

PvP'ers are constantly harping on about how everyone else should use high-wake to escape when they've bitten off more than they can chew.

Now you've suddenly decided "but not here because it's not a fight to the death."

Elite was never about fighting to the death. It's about fighting to live. Blood may or may not be spilled. It changes with each scenario. The OP proposes that dynamic be removed.

To many people, this means less content, not more.

Why would I put myself in a prison situation? That's exactly what the OP is.

It takes away choice.

This game needs more choice, not less.

Doesn't sound like much fun to me... I'll play my way if you don't mind.

Hmm, I think you do mean offense to be honest. There's a lot more to Elite, and even to the BGS than rebuys and PvP. Sure, its a part of it, but not a particularly significant part.

No I dont mean to offend anyone.

But I do find it a bit weird people choose to ignore whats in front of them. Or choose not to understand why those things are in the game in the first place.
