Locking players to something is, IMHO, a very bad design decision because it implies that a) you must play the way the developer wants you to play, and b) that your time and commitments can be dictated to by a company.This would promote friendly competition, working together, wing comps and more.
Maybe I join a CZ accidentally...
or I start playing expecting mates to show up but they all cancel and I don't want to play alone...
or some IRL event forces me to log off...
...but then I can't leave because of some arbitrary time-limit and some kind of magic "no hyperspace for you" handwavium fluff.
It may promote what you say, or it maybe promote CLogging or suicide out of sheer frustration.
