What do you hear when exploring?

What do you hear when exploring? Beside your ships engines, scanners and spacemadness telling you something big is about to happen.

Because explorers know that it can be very boring to explore with a preset destination somwhere 40k lightyears away (from Sol). So what do you hear to, lets say: "Keep you on track" or to "Get in the mood"

And besides that what is your favorite story involving exploration you might want to share and what is your favorite system explored by yourself?

For myself im not exploring for a very long time and my furthest point away from Sol was just about 9120Ly. I originally wanted to scout the sector arround the sector ofBLEIA1 DL-Y F26 to see if i could find any activity leading to thargoids like wrecks or pure luck encounters but i recently decided to head back to the bubble to get better equipment and to see if i find anything regearding: Thargoids, Rogue AI's, lost Colonies or even Spacewhales somewhere near the bubble... because i think from a development status point of view it would make more sense to search there where Devs might think we would find it before summer äähhh winter arrives. But i hope that the work and time other Commanders did spend in the Formidine Rift will pay out for them by discovering something... breathtaking there. And i hope i will find something too on my journeys :D. The only thing maybe worth mentioning that is dicovered during my short trip was that the only wrecks i found in USS'es where the ones of Imperial Clippers.

Im for my part will now bookmark every cold ammonia based planets i discover because Thargoids seem to like those and will probably write those locations down in physical form because you never know what INRA is up to. But back to topic :)

My favorite music im listening to while exploring is

And here are some Pictures i took during my trip:

That's actually quite tasty. :)

Lately I'm listening more lounge and occasionally psybient stuf like this.

Podcasts! BBC has a nice collection. Radio New Zealand too. And there is always Jan Preston on Spotify, to embarrass me about my own piano skills.

Banghra too at times, but that's basically musicial caffeine, so hard to relax to for long.

:D S

For me it depends, I listen to all kind of music, lately I was listen to Grimes. I liked your music, will try that on my next trip. :)

just the sounds of elite, i like the noises the ship makes on entry to orbit, the creaking and what not, although its been toned down from some beta vids i watched / listened to, they did sound awesome.

I found an occupied escape pod 500ly from the bubble two days ago, not exactly exploring, but still the concept of "rescuing" a remote explorer was interesting, even more so was that it was illegal salvage?? i was going to save them but thought better of carrying illegal goods... :( but i digress, imagine scooping up a pilot / alien / thing to talk to! that would be a cool addition to exploration.

When landed - sat in the cockpit or in the SRV - I frequently hear the sound of a helicopter passing overhead, but I only hear this when stationary.

Gets me every time.

Music, for the most part, though I've also been known to watch a show or two during a long run. Was a child of the 80s, so that affects things, but I generally have music from several different genres. That said, I've determined after my most recent excursion that iTunes has a sick sense of humor.

Google Play Music, Depending on my mood:
70s and 80s hard rock
Bebop or hard bop jazz
Chillstep/ambient

Plus, every once in a while, the ED OST

usually just elite ingame sounds.

My wife assures me that when you are trying to get to sleep and these are just on the edge of hearing from downstairs they are hands down the weirdest sounds of any game I've played in the last 18 years...
