What do you want to do in Planet Zoo

Neat, id guess swan and boar are the cheapest
Honestly the games money system is weird after regular exhibit boxes the cheapest is the kiwi at $70 then pangolin and armadillo at 77 which both are cheaper than the $100 for walkthrough exhibits. Im thinking the swam might have the power to take the title of cheapest if the minimum number of swans is low the boar would probably cost close to the same as peccary so it will be a bit more expensive but will be built for soon.

I made a hard decision: Biopark Luxemburg will be finished soon.
I'm running into performance problems of this project (which is my first and longest project btw, I've started it in 2021) so I have to finish this project sooner than later.
Below you can see an overview of the park.
  • The Arctic Experience area on the right is finished habitat wise, I just have to finally to a bit of landscaping and planting in between.
  • I thought about adding the dromedary camels, Somali wild ass, cheetah and black rhino to the African Journey section but I won't do it and just finish off the hippo house with the adjacent buffalo habitat and the boat safari. I also have to fill the empty sections in between the habitats but there'll probably just be hills, meadows and some trees.
  • Now the hardest part is the Asian Trek section because it is far from finished. Originally I planned to have four subsections (Indonesian Islands, India, Amur Forest and Himalaya) but I decided to completely scrap India and Amur because I haven't even started these areas. In addition, the large tropical hall will be much smaller and will probably just fit in indoor areas for the orang-utans, siamangs and tapirs plus a Komodo dragon habitat. Small habitats for babirusas, cassowaries and small-clawed otters combined with binturongs will conclude this area.
  • Himalaya will be finished off with my beloved takins and some Japanese macaques. Then these two areas will be connected with a pathway. And that's it.

  • Some time ago I decided I want to change the layout of the entrance plaza and rearrange the habitats there. Not sure if still will do it. Maybe I just leave as it is.

I hope perfomance wise I'll be able to do all this but it's way more realistic than my original plan. I'm optimistic to do so and very excited to finally finish a project.
This will also leave Biopark without any rhinos, crocodiles, tigers and leopards. But it is what it is.
The plan is to start a new project in temperate or taiga biome to fit in the new Eurasian animals and other animals which don't fit into this project and my other one anymore. I still haven't build anything for the Europe Pack animals so far, so they'll totally be included in my new project.

I’ve been feeling a bit stuck recently and the Eurasia DLC couldn’t have come at a better time.

I’ve been working on vaguely Central European zoos but not happy with the balance of European vs non-European species.

So when the announcement came, it definitely convinced me to do a purely European zoo (plus Przewalski’s horses) set in the Alps.

I feel that best reflects my strengths too, as well as the exisiting biome terrains and map background rather than wishing I could use, for example, the tropical soil on a temperate map.

I have lots of ideas planes

My current active project is a zoo based on Temaikén but not a recreation. Heavy focus on Argentinian, Peruvian and Brazilian fauna and ecoregions. I built just a couple habitats so far but i now have a true plan for the entrance design and style as well. Grasslands (Pampas/Cerrado), Wetlands (Iberá/Pantanal), Jungles (Amazon), Patagonia (steppe, forests and coast).

Then i have planned several recreations of my ZT 2 zoos:

  • Australian zoo: focus on Oceania fauna, desert/temperate map, modern style but heavily themed aboriginal Australian decorations and earth beige red dark green colour palete.
  • Asían themed zoo based on China. This was one of my favorite zoos in ZT2 and i really want to recreate it. One of the Main reasons i want pheasants and the GNSM. Takin is a step forward. Mostly Asian animals: China, Japan, Tibetan / Himalayan theming. Sections but the zoo is cold / temperate theming mostly.
  • Safari park: África and India. Big mixed enclosures based on National Parks and ecoregions: Serengueti-Masai Mara, Okavango, Congo, Southafrican scrublands, Madagascar, Indian savannah and jungles.

Then i have ideas for a mini Alaskan/Pacific Northwest NA zoo with a focus on boreal forests, coastal and Arctic.

Now i just need the time and the building skills to do all that 🤣🤣🤣

I do have an idea for a zoo concept that I’d like to begin once the Eurasia Animal Pack comes out. I’m thinking of making it one of those “park zoos” that you come across sometimes, kinda like the Central Park Zoo in NYC; the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island; or ZooTampa at Lowry Park in Tampa, Florida.

I haven’t laid out the design of the zoo yet, but here’s how I’d do it (names and animals are pending):

Main Park-Like Area:
  • Mute Swan
  • Butterflies
Woodlands Area
  • Wisent
  • Wolverine
  • Wild Boar
  • Siberian Tiger
  • European Fallow Deer
  • Red Deer
  • Reindeer
  • Timber Wolf
  • Arctic Wolf
  • Exhibit Building
    • Hermann’s Tortoise
    • Fire Salamander
    • Danube Crested Newt
Highlands Area
  • Sichuan Takin
  • Alpine Ibex
  • Snow Leopard
  • Dall Sheep
Central Asia Area
  • Saiga Antelope
  • Przewalski’s Wild Horse
  • Bactrian Camel
  • Sloth Bear
  • Chinese Pangolin
  • Red Panda
  • Giant Panda
  • Himalayan Brown Bear
Arctic Ocean Area
  • Polar Bear
  • Grey Seal

I'm thinking of expanding my opening deer paddock at my zoo into a large multi-species forest/grassland enclosure for both deer, wisent, and boar as well as including a river/lake with it for swans. A European spin on the classic mixed African savanna.

I feel honestly so overwhelmed with comming up with a good idea for my beloved sloth bears that I will probably build a gift shop tomorrow first to get off the creator anxiety.
I'm just hoping the gift shop alone will motivate me to start something. That's the biggest hurdle for me; starting.

This is my current roadmap for OakWood Zoo. I’ve moved my Eurasia Wilds section to the top of my list seeing how I should build for the Eurasia Animal Pack animals first. Saiga, Takin, Fallow Deer and Alpine Ibex will all be included on the Eurasian boardwalk and I might include a couple more like the new tapir and water Buffalo but we’ll see. In the other part of Eurasia I haven’t planned it that much I just know the boar is going in there and probably some sort of shop, or multiple one gift and food court.

As far as other sections, the Oceania section will get a small expansion but not for another Australian animal, the swan! I wanted to have some sort of small attraction at that dead end and a lake with swans is perfect 🤩

Wolverine will be added to the Americas which are a hot mess right now cause last night I dropped my raccoons and red foxes blueprinted enclosures there and haven’t organized it at all so that should be fun.

After I’m done with all the Eurasia animals I’ll head back to Africa to finish the Wetlands area with Warthogs and Lechwe. Behind that is a section I’m really looking forward to, a filler section with all of the small felines and canids from Africa. Porcupine will also find its way into the mix.

Sea lion will be part of my huge revamp to the entrance as well as insect gardens beside the butterfly house. I’m planning another entrance on the other side of the zoo near the pavilion that will have flamingos and an actual parking lot since the other entrance is right up against the map border I can’t build any more there.

All that and I still got a lot to go lol.

I think I'm ready to start in on my first Tundra franchise zoo...well, I opened it a long time ago just to get the achievement for having zoos on all continents, but I haven't actually done anything with it as yet.

The Wolverine definitely locks that in place for giving me the push to start in on it. The Polar Bear situation still frightens me. I do not have them in a single franchise zoo since my first two franchise attempts were disasters for the sustainability of the zoos and I have to remove them. I will probably forgo them and just concentrate on the other animals instead, I can still make a smaller zoo with what we have. I kind of wish now we'd gotten the Muskox in the last pack, they'd be a great addition.

Honestly I kinda feel like I’m at a point where I can’t do much.

Himalayan heights is pretty much gonna have to be scrapped because we didn’t get a mountain pack, though I did add Takins there. The only other fitting animals I could do would be Red Pandas or Snow Leopards, but I’ve dug myself into a ditch with the cats because I underestimated the space this species would need. And a himalayan area with just takins and red pandas is kinda lame, so maybe I’ll just keep it bare for now and hope for a mountain pack in the spring?

Another thing I could do would be a South America area coming off of San Marcos. The only problem is that the species we have in game are kind of lackluster, I would hope for a Coati and Howler Monkey at the very least before I start that project.

I really don’t think I need to add any more Asian species we have in game right now, except for maybe the new Malayan Tapir if I get inspired. I have a spot for it next to the camels.

That being said, the only other thing I could really do is Africa. and honestly, idk. Most of Africa is boring hoofstock, so idk if I’ll do it rn.

If anyone has any ideas feel free to share, cuz I’m running low on inspiration.

How about a current overview shot to gage the zoo plans?
Also nothing wrong with just takin and red pandas for the himalayas, alternativly you could also add another habitat and leave it empty with a goat habitat being an easy guess for something that will hopefully come some day, be it markhor, himalayan thar or even a blue sheep or whatever.

I was thinking maybe doing that, but there’s really no guarantee.

I’m not gonna go back into the save until the gift shop bug gets fixed just in case, but I’ll update my older map with rough sketches of where the new things are.
