Still running along fine with a GTX 760 for now.

With the GTX 1060 coming out this month for $250 and matching the GTX 980 for specs, it's looking good for a card upgrade. I especially like the TPD at 120W. That's 50 watts lower than my 760.

Still using my msi 3gb r9 280 i bought 18mths ago for 159 uk pounds, it still plays ED happily at a steady 60fps in space, 40-45 on planets, and my other older games ok. I will keep using it for a while yet, when the time comes i need to upgrade, the best bang for buck gpu i think just now in my price range would be the rx 480, and hopefully will get it cheaper if i wait long enough. But that GTX 1060 above for $250 looking good too.

AMD 7970 3 Gb, i5 2500k @4.5Ghz, 16 Gb Ram runs everything like a dream. Star Citizen is the only game I struggle with. Some how probably not something anyone should gauge their cards on. I can even run Arma 3 maxed out on 100 + player servers and it's 4 years old.

Someone have cooling problems? What cooling problems? ;P
No this isn't my system... haha

At least I'm not the only one with a retro-feeling when playing E:D  Got an ATI HD 5650 with 1GB.
lol I just got a Geforce GTX 960 with 4GB. I wish I could have afforded the 980, but it was still a huge upgraded from a failing GTX 580. :D

ASUS Strix GTX980Ti OC here, running E: D pretty much with equal performance with same settings ("Ultra minus" = Ambient Occlusion & Bloom off, Planet stuff at high, FXAA) than the GTX780 I had previously.

Oh, there's one detail I forgot to mention: GTX980Ti @ 2160p performs just as well with same E: D settings as GTX780 @ 1080p... ;)

gtx980ti running e:d w/o issues. the game's poor optimization is appalling but more than offset by sheer artistic genius. however, if this is what it takes to render desert monotonic planet surfaces, i wonder how it will pan out with planets full of life, even if it's alien life.

Only people who've never played Space Engineers call this game badly-optimised. That game can bring a 1080 to its knees.

Given the naming conventions employed by Nvidia, I'd never describe a 1080 as "mid-range." The 1070 would be the top-end of such a classification, in my book.

Sorry I meant mid-range chip with - Titan's & 1080Ti's being GP102
1080 & 1070 being GP104
1060 being GP106

Just the same as the 900 series with - Titan & 980ti being GM200
980 & 970 being GM204
960 being GM206

1080 is certainly a high-end card. Guess they call the top chip's 'Enthusiast' now.

GTX 970

I was running high settings, but still a little choppy looking when pulling maneuvers in the asteroid belts, so I'm running med now... anyway, these tired old eyes can tell the difference.
