what happened at this outpost what did i do wrong?!

Again. There's a bug where some Odyssey settlements have landing pads in trespass zone. Defences will start shooting after a while.

I don't think those events are in the journal.

I skimmed a few of mine and there is often nothing listed for reason for being attacked, even when I know exactly what my CMDR did to provoke the attack. Yesterday, I go caught stealing something, failing a mission, turning the settlement hostile, then fighting my way out of the base...and the only thing in the Journal at the relevant timestamps was:

{ "timestamp":"2021-12-19T16:05:02Z", "event":"Music", "MusicTrack":"OnFoot" }
{ "timestamp":"2021-12-19T16:19:35Z", "event":"UnderAttack", "Target":"You" }

The Journal says nothing about anything I did until I started getting shot, but I spent fifteen minutes scouting around, duplicating credentials, and trespassing before I was caught trying to reach the mission objective. The Journal recorded none of that.

that's weird, because i clearly remember seeing this type of stuff being mentioned in the logs (being scanned on foot while having illegal goods in inventory for example) and it was really obvious.

so the missing events leading to getting agro, could be just another bug

It could be a bug, or livery items. I had to remove my cutters' bumps, tails and other livery items because I had the same problem at some settlements. I was trespassing with them installed. No problems since then.

Something similar just happened to me. I landed at an Odyssey settlement owned by a faction that I am allied with, the landing pad lit up and the contacts, mission board and commodities market were all live, the operational status was listed as Normal. I was buying some commodities when I got the ship under attack vocal warning. I was in a well-engineered Vette so had plenty of time to investigate. I took off and could see ground fire was coming from shielded on-foot NPCs so landed out of range, disembarked and went into the settlement. There were 6 scavs with bounties, the base was powered-off like a normal abandoned settlement. The scavs are now dead. The faction state is None. So the oddity here is that the ship station board looks normal and says operational even though the base ground buildings are powered-off with scavs prowling about.

Yeah, I've 100% had this happen to me in a cutter at a planetary settlement. I was able to get away in that instance, but it was definitely a trespass zone issue.
Unintended pad blocking with big ships has been an issue since the alpha, and AFAIK odyssey settlements still don't send a pad blocking warning to your journal. So the OP probably docked at a settlement with the lethal pad arrangement and a minute or so later triggered the loitering response.
Definitely a case for customer service to restore the loss.

You cannot - you died in an Odyssey settlement. So always pay attention when landing at settlements.
That would not be possible in an normal Planetary Port / Outpost. The moment you dock at those, your ship is invulnerable
Ahh thank you… I’ve only done a few settlement missions but had not realised I could use services when landed… just departed ship and got on with the mission. As I say dangerous place :)

UPDATE
woooo! soo after contacting CS they saw that i was attacked for "tresspass" but there was no justifacation for it in the log. so ive been fully reimbursed and reverted to my pre bug state. getting all my cargo, vouchers, scan data, ect ect back. thank you all for helping me out and pointing me to CS to get my stuff back!

Also be aware that not all Odyssey settlements have large landing pads...which is where the OP had issues...

I landed at what was supposed to be a friendly allied Odyssey settlement using APEX and noticed it had been powered down while in solo mode. Was immediately attacked and killed for piracy by the NPC ground team security. If you're going to cheat me like that then list and mark the settlement as hostile or put a warning up. I'm pretty sure someone else did the power down piracy mission or just attacked the settlement and that's what got me killed. As an ally I should be able to help the settlement not get executed for someone else's acts. I wasn't on any missions at the time either. I just wanted to visit the allied settlement. Maybe I'll just land and kill everything from now on so at least if I get executed it's for an actual purpose other than built in player harassments logic. Negative logic is going to get a negative response every time. Star Citizen is about 10000 times worse but is gaining players because of the unfriendly atmosphere in ED and that's a fact I've been seeing on youtube.

Yes... The downed settlement's "security" team. 🏴‍☠️🦜

Yeah, I'm having this issue right now. I'm in a pretty beefy T-10 so I can hurridly do my commodities business with only about 10% loss to hull after shields drop, but it's hella annoying! Yet, it is exciting. Oh and for some reason, I thought it was all about unpaid fines, so I paid them at an interstellar factor facility but it still happened. And then, I looked at what fines were needed to be paid at the settlement and not only were my fines still showing as unpaid, but one of them doubled so I paid again and still got attacked. Now I'm just skids hot and drop and load and lifting off as fast as I can! LOL! Hope they fix this soon.

OP, you should download and install EDDiscovery.

Although it has many options you may not find useful, one of the things it does really well is parse your Journal Files and displays it in an easy to read format, so, when things like this happen, you can easily see what happened, step by step.

You need to install it and configure it, pointing it to your Journal Directory to see the logs. You can also configure it to talk to Inara and EDSM if you have accounts on those sites.

It's a handy tool for Elite. Works on Horizons and Odyssey.

It will save you time and effort in looking at Elite Journals.

Whenever I land with my Type 10 Transporter on a small (friendly) settlement - every type of small settlement with only one large landing pad - I get a message that I entered a trespass zone. The settlement will start firing shortly after my type 10 is docked properly. No time to do anything in the menues (like trading). I need to undock immediately and escape the firing zone or have my costly ship blown up.

This happens every time, no custom additions to my type 10, no illegal cargo, no bounties, no missions. Just an annoying bug. Unbelievable that I still can‘t play the game with my Type 10 properly after more than one year!

im in utter shock and anger right now. i just lost around 150 mill in mined resources because of something im absolutely baffled by!? i was going to a station, HIP 80242, shen boarding site, to sell a load of grandidierite. i came in atmo. i requested landing. was granted access and landed. everything was A-OK. then as im trying to get to the commodity market so i can make my sale the station starts firing on me. and blew my ship up. i have no bounties on me. nothing stolen. im just a lowly miner. and the station fired upon me and killed me and wasted around 150 million in cargo i was carrying.

What is going on. why did the station just nuke me for trying to sell them mined resources?! no warning no nothing. do these stations just hate miners now? or was it so offensive im using a cutter to mine that they just had to nuke me and waste WEEKS worth of mining to fill my cargo hold!?
I was landing at the engineer in Wyrd a2 the other day. Anyway, came in at wrong angle and got the loitering warning. Trying to quickly spin round and approach again, I clipped something ( it happens) and was informed bounty for opening fire.. I didn't, weapons were stowed. Just a silly mistake. Barely got out alive. Paid fine at another station, went back and they were my best friends. Fickle gits.
