Spoiler warn, in case you haven't read the last two books, but, if you remember, "The Ardent" was a member of The Insequent, and his WHOLE THING was going to places people hadn't been to before, although, he also had a serious fear of "the deep places of the earth"...
Damn right I've read it, multiple times in fact (well, technically listened to in the case of The Last Dark) lol. I loved how he chose to end the series, it was so fitting given the backstory and symbolism of his universe. And yeah, I agree that it's a great comparison, and I actually considered it, but somehow the name just didn't seem to fit in my mind. Though maybe 'The Insequent' would fit too, since their whole race's thing is learning new things.
