What is the point of the game? What is there to aim for?

Aye, when you boil any game down to it, the same questions of "What's the point?" can be leveled. The real question is, do you enjoy it? If you do, it's a game for you; if you don't, it's not the game for you. Same with everything in life! There are movies that are massively popular that bore me or worse, irritate me. There are movies that I love deeply that are generally disliked or unknown. And there are movies that are hugely popular that I love, and ones that are widely disliked or unknown that I don't like or don't know about :)

When we don't like something, we stop and go "What was the point of that!" When we do like something, we've no need to start trying to break it down - we just enjoy it. I guess if you are lead to ask "What is the point of...." then it instantly answers that it isn't for you. No amount of explanation will change your mind (which does, ultimately, make the question pointless to ask....)

I think its not that he doesnt enjoy it, he was probably very thrilled at the start and that is the reason he bought the game in the first Place, its just a shame that he feels lets Down now and would like more out of the game dont u think?

the only problem is, there is no information from the Devs when and what we will have in the game like a "new features".

With this information i will be happy to come back later

Why should they reveal us new big content 2 months from release? why to waste a moment of surprise while reading a new features list in a future patch-note? they already talked enough of what ED will be in the tons of pre-release video blogs.
Also, are not 1.1 + upcoming 1.2 new content to enjoy? :p
We all need to be more patient. I dont want to peek in the gift box ;)

No, the game is NOT in Beta. It works. It has all the features that where announced for release. There are some bugs but with that many lined of code and that complexity NO bugs are impossible.
Yes, there will come new features, but the game is finished and not in Beta and there are quite some people out there who enjoy it and for them it is worth every penny RIGHT NOW!

The game is not finished. A game of this scope and scale can never be finished. It may have all features that were announced for release, but many of them are working poorly at best, and could easily be improved upon - the forum is full of brilliant suggestions for exactly that purpose, but the developers rarely seem to listen at all.

Yes, many people enjoy the game right now, but it is DESPITE all the bugs and the missing features and the nerfs and the unnecessary balancing and the fixing of issues that never existed until they got recently "fixed".

The game was released with a tiny fraction of the content that was promised at kickstarter level, and even the content that was already in the game worked poorly, if at all, and much of it didn't make sense. Still doesn't. I am just glad I purchased the lifetime expansion pass when I still had the chance.

When ED has all the features of Frontier: First Encounters, voiced NPCs and walking around on stations, ships and planets, it will finally feel like a finished game. Until then, whenever logging in to the game, I will feel as if I am testing a beta. Not a day without a major bug, immersion-breaking glitches and features clearly not working as intended. (System permit mission description, anyone?)

So no... this is not a finished game. In a few years it might feel a bit more complete, but whether we will actually ever see some real depth (that was never part of the Elite series at all) is questionable.

Oh I definitely dont want to lose the game for a simple refund, money means nothing when you have the next Elite game to play.

And for all those above who think I dont know what sandbox is or whatever I am a Frontier and FFE vet, I have spent over 250 hours playing Kerbal sandbox and many other open world games. I KNOW what good, thrilling, open world gameplay is all about.

But the game has limitations, its hollow I guess. I know its a matter of waiting for Frontier to add these things but somehow their priorities seem a little strange to me. The game needs filling out a lot in many different directions and its not going very fast.

I spent 15 years waiting for Elite 4. I cant spend the rest of my life waiting for Elite 4 to become a GAME!

I'm assuming someone that enjoys the game = fanboy = something bad.

I enjoy ED and im not a ,-, probably cuz i didnt play the original elite when i was a child and it isnt part of my childhood memories, but im not going to be delusional, and say that the game is km wide and cm deep, compared to todays game standarts and im also gonna say that FD cmmunication with players is not very good.
Im just a guy who likes this game who also likes FD, but isnt deluded and points out the shortcomings of this game on the forums until they are fixed or untill FD cmmonicates with us mortals about these issues.
And if some - misses my point complitely... No i dont want another mmorpg or cod, i just want ED to not resemble an alpha stage game mechanics with pretty visuals.
