What is your exploration strategy?

Use the galmap to see the types of stars in a system. I have found quite a lot of dbz; people are just not interested in them I guess. WDs are deadly and loads of people have... lets say negative experiences with them

I've spent quite a lot of time navigating galmap and had no success. Would be cool to check your DBZs locations on EDSM - I have no idea on their distribution.

Not sure how you can do it on EDSM, but on Spansh you can search for the DBZs, like here.
Checking the individual stars there, on the top it shows the galactic region and the exact galactic coordinates. Alas, I don't see an option to filter by that (in the above the list is sorted by distance from Sol, iirc), or to extract a list and work with that in your favourite tool like Excel...

I also just go where the neutrons are; so 1000ly or more up and down the plane. Then I filter for dwarf, herbigs and S, CN, CJ. MS etc and start searching galmap. Once you start seeing other WS than DC/DA there are likely more about

I am currently searching for DBZ type white dwarf.
I've been looking into rare White Dwarfs (or Dwarves, both seem correct) for the last few months. As is the case so often (and has already been pointed out) EDAstro ist the place to check first to get some initial directions as to where things are to be found in general:

That square N/W of Sgr*A? That's the stack of sectors I've been working on. According to EDD I'm the proud discoverer of the following rarer White Dwarfs, most of which I've found there:
  • DAZ: 110 out of 705 (Spansh) or 971 (EDSM)
  • DBV: 54 out of 1656 (Spansh) or 2062 (EDSM)
  • DBZ: 24 out of 207 (Spansh) or 257 (EDSM)
Besides the visualisation of all White Dwarfs EDAstro also provides a CSV listing these rare types, i.e. DAZ, DBV and DBZ (excluding the hand-authored DQ-variant). A quick plot of its entries in Excel shows they're pretty much distributed in the same way as all other types of White Dwarfs:

To answer your question based on my observations: The easiest way to find an undiscovered, rare type of White Dwarf is the same as with HRGG: Search for one close to you (on EDSM or Spansh) and then scan through the boxel via the Galaxy Map's search function. Chances are good you'll find another one of that type within that boxel.

Other than that my survey so far has not turned up any discernable patterns as to where they're generated. Good luck!

The galaxy map in VR searching plotting is amazing. Slightly buggy but improving over time.
Point is in VR your IN the map. It's all around you as u pan, zoom fly etc. Searching for rares and plotting local incremental courses.
I ditched the conda 78ly thing at Colonia and stuck some missiles guns slf armour shields etc now only 50ly but l got teeth.!
And I'm gonner be out here for a long time. Don't need a carrier.
She's parked in my home system.
I'm just out here doing thousands of systems most I get to discover. Finding hotspots and landing on places.
I wish l could get that dumbass slf pilot to HOLD when I'm buzzing around on a moon in the slf.
Again the point is fun! No real plan just like exploring and having a ship that stupid slf pilot can bounce off a moon and not blow up!!
As for rares.. Their different colours in the real map. Easily found when your zoomed in locally.
Trouble is it's 300 or so jumps before I get anywhere ! That's alot of discovered systems.
Come odyssey I'll have hooked up with my carrier and be exploring in a combat fdl hehehehe. Bring it on Open
