What is your view on microtransactions for credits?

Except they would loose a lot more in the long run. Pretty much any MMO that has tried it has failed because the majority of online gamers hate it.

It's proven to be commercial suicide because FD's reputation would go down the toilet with the game.

Yeah that league of legends game is really struggling.

You are absolutly correct in what you say OP. It makes not one whit of difference to anyone how you get credits or advance in this game. If you could buy in game credits I wouldnt use it personaly for my own reasons . That said if others wanted to do that then who are we to say no . In the end it makes not one iota of differnece to my gameplay what so ever , it might even let FD get some cash off idiots, I meen players who want to shorten their game experience.

Bad idea in a game where credits are everything. It would be pay to win, especially for pvp.

It would kill the game very quickly.

Thats not the problem at all. Pay to win neither. The biggest problem is the first thing you point out. Everything resolves around credits, your progression, your running cost...your survival basically.

The moment you are able to buy your way out of the grind what is left in the game? The game is based on how to make a living not raiding the System Alpha Centauri for epic loot from pirates.

Even from a developing standpoint it could be toxic.
"Make it extra hard to earn credits the normal way, so people are much more ready to pay additional money in order to earn credits."

Credits is everything...paying 10€ to buy a Anaconda, additional 10€ in order to equip the Anaconda and maybe 10€ more to maintain a gameplay in the current form in a anaconda.

It would just feel so bad...and in that moment i would cry for a offline mode too. Because if buying credits is possible everything would just feel weak and fake.

I would love the ability to buy Credits, as my play time is limited and i want the best without playing space trucker 3300

Can't tell if this is troll or not because that's exactly why purchasing credits should NEVER be allowed. If you want ingame assets, you play the game to get them not "pay to win".

I'm the first of these examples and yet I am still better off in the game than the closest of my friends I can think of to the second example... If the guy working for his money feels the need to spend real cash in Elite so that he can feel superior then he is definitely a lamer.

Im actually with you on that, as Im doing pretty well in game myself with a wife, 2 kids, and a job, just sacrificing some sleep to squeeze in an hour or two a day after the fam goes to bed, but I still dont have a problem with people with more money than time being able to fund development for the rest of us. However, I have a hard time believing anyone that is accomplished in real life is using video game power to feel superior, theyre just a normal gamer like the rest of us that want to fly the big ship. If they do, then yeah theyre a lamer, but its not for spending their money, its for thinking their pixels make them superior.

Yeah that league of legends game is really struggling.

It has a very poor user rating. Which means they are probably loosing out on a lot of potential customers and not gaining many new ones. Most of the complaints are about it being a pay to win cash grab...

So next time the same studio need to release a new game to keep the money rolling in, people will remember and avoid it. That is when the financial problems start. I have worked in the games industry, things can go wrong very quickly because of stuff coming back to bite :)

I saw how this unfolded in the WWI combat sim Rise of Flight, you paid for new planes, variants, equipment etc and it caused a lot of bad blood. I understand the need for cash flow but I really hope they don't do it this way.

Cannot say this with more impact...but, hell NO! Do not make this a P2W game by making credits available for real money. If Frontier needs extra money to continue development - all they must do is ask, and or put more things for us to purchase on the market.

Right now the market it pretty sketchy. Just t's and hoodies, and a few paint jobs is not going to cut it.

First they need to add 3rd person view when not in combat so we can take cool screenshots with our ships and see those gret paint jobs they offer us. Second. They need to add more paint jobs for sale, emblems, stickers for our ships. On the non-in game items they need to offer ship models(get a contract with Revell), coffee mugs, Elite stylized keyboards, hats, pendents, posters. Their marketing department really needs to get on the ball with this.

They can make tons of money and keep this game running if they'd offer us more things to buy. But in game credits for real cash...no, just no!

As the majority of the people will argue that it doesn't matter what another person has in this game in respect to you, would it be fair to say that buying credits for real cash doesn't affect anyone at all?

That is a terrible idea. I like the fact that in ED, everything I have, I earned by actually playing the game.

I'm fine with cosmetic stuff though. I'd like to see skins, decals, and stuff to dress up the inside of the cockpit. There are other ways of bringing in revune that don't involve selling money for power.

NO MONEY FOR CREDITS!!!!

You guys do realize that even if this came into play you dont have to buy the credits, what one person does with his money will not affect another, this game is not a highly pvp game and alot of people play in groups and solo so what does it matter if i spent $10 and bought credits would gladly do it and would have spent about $100 just in the last two weeks lol, which would help pay for future expansion for you!!!!!!!!!!!

are you joking? This is a excuse. Microtransactions for in game resources ALWAYS affect balance. You think the grind is bad now? Wait till there is microtransactions for money. Money always changes things. Look at diablo 3 auction house as one example, the grind was so insane for high end items because of the auction house, and thats just one of the tamer examples. I stop buying anything from any dev whenever they put microtransactions for in game resources in their games. Even cosmetic stuff I barf at but I understand its necessary for server upkeep costs.
