What is your view on microtransactions for credits?

People paying money for credits so it can be used by the developers to make the game better for everyone.....I see no negative part in this sentence...
Ofcourse if they change the game in a PvP game it would be the start of the end for ED

well the guy you are fighting in pvp just bought the best equip with cash for creds ,you both have same experience but he can afford to buy the best and spam as many missiles as he likes :)

Is that why they put in so much trade grinding and why A grade stuff so expensive?

Then 6 months later put in micro-transactions to sort the problem they created.

I doubt it with ED but others have done it.

Haha, "pay2win". What will you wacky ultra-fans think of next? Lol! P2W in an essentially sp game with no ladders, real PvP, content or any reason to log in. You think anyone remembers your "CMDR" name? ha!

What will the players taking advantage of this convenient service be "winning" exactly? "Boo Hoo! I got killed and I bet (cause I'm mad) that he bought credits! Waa!" Yes, very convincing to the bottom line folks at FD I'm sure.

Going to threaten to leave because some guy who you will never encounter paid to relieve his grind and increase his enjoyment? Guess you weren't really a fan of the game after all.

BTW, no one had provided the link yet with FD saying no, despite the increasingly desperate claims posted here.

This is ridiculous. People don't refuse P2W to be better ranked or to pretend to be the best. They see it as a matter of fairness. I am OK to be blown up with someone playing better or simply more than I do, not because he decided to spend more money on the game. P2W might be about increasing enjoyment for the one paying, but as players are together it is also a way to lower others' enjoyment. No one likes to be spoiled because someone decided to throw money. Those who want to skip the grinding part better go offline, they can get a lot of easy stuff done and let the other commanders play online.

I would spend like 50K real dollars to buy 800 Trillion in-game credits. Then I'd buy a whole bunch of Anacondas, and use them to ram and destroy new players flying sidewinders. Sometimes I'd set the Anacondas on self destruct just to show the other players how rich I am.

LOL

I dont see any problem. They can ssell them and put the money into improving the game. Its up to you if you want to pay real money for it. Im sure some insane people would :)

N that would improve the game for us all.

instant game killer! it may not be pay to win in the competitive sense but it splits the player base into 2 classes. those who can afford to do what they like and those who can not. Often with games that do this its more about paying to overcome an inconvenience that the game designers have placed. when this happens its uncertain to the player what further inconveniences the designer will charge you get past. Either way games that do this typically die very quickly and designers often do this just to rinse as much cash out before that happens. self for filling prophecy or what.

Personally i would just delete my frontier account and be done with it.

So then the game is already killed? Ie hard core grinders vs those who don't have the time.. :)

I used to play Ogame, a free online 'build your own space empire' game. iv played it for years. I don't play it now though, over the past couple of years, theyve just added more & more things that you can purchase through credits for cash....the outcome...now 1% of players who pay their way to the top dominate & crush the other 99% who now can't enjoy what was a good game.
The Ogame forum is now better than the game itself, with all the 'trolling & flaming' that goes with every players actions.
That's why i started looking for something else to do & found ED.
If real cash starts to dominate the ED universe, then the forum mods will be busy...or everyone will have moved on apart from a handful of rich griefers!

I have no moral issue with the idea of micro transactions in general. But I've already paid a full retail price for this game, and I assume everyone else has. It's always a tad questionable to add on an ingame cost to a full price game. Plus, they would have to make sure it's balanced. How will it effect the background sim to have all this "extra" money appearing in the galaxy?

I'd happily spend even more money on skins and future customisation options to support the game. But paying for in-game money would have to be very carefully looked at before implementation.

Haven't read the whole thread and opinions, but to make it plain. Microtransaction in form of Decals, Paintjobs or maybe even Cockpit interiors (i would like that) are perfectly fine. Credits or anything else that one could put into the P2W box, no way in hell.
