My point being: seeing as Beyond is supposed to be about improvements to core gameplay what are Fdev gona do about USS's and the RNG to improve the fun aspects of material gathering?
Will it always be USS for Imp Shielding (for example) or will there be a reliable way of finding such stuff that doesn't involve crawling around a star system waiting for HGE'S?
I doubt FDEV will answer, but you don't ask you don't get...
I spent some time today and my previous day off trying to gather materials. It was not fun.
The first improvement would be setting some better rules for materials, if Mechnaical scrap is supposed to drop from "hauling" ships then either:
Make it drop form any ship with cargo racks equipped, and drop rates depend on the amount and size of cargo racks.
or make it drop form hauling classed ships like T6,T7,T9 and the hauler.
but atm, shooting these ships in CZ, Nav beacons or res sites simply does not drop them, but why? why is there a magical rule for them to drop only in signal sources and combat aftermath sources? I mean isn't there a "combat aftermath" if I shot them?
this is the kind of rubbish which makes material collection a pain and nonsense.
Same for imperial shieldings, why in imperial systems signal sources?
They should drop from imperial ships under specific conditions, like specific shield class sizes carried by those ships, and in CZ's where imperial ships come in combat outfitted setups. Sure this automatically drags you to systems with imperial factions, but hiding them in Signal sources is just nonsense.
And this kind of consistency is absolutely lacking in the entie ED universe. We are in the end not talking about a classic medieval like fantasy MMO where SS are some points of magical origin. When there is some signal source ship scrap, this has to come from ships, and when it comes from ships we should also get it by shooting these ships (or even buy them right from the factory). Because thats what defines the difference between a realsitic approaching sci fi game from a medieval fantasy game.
