What the heck is wrong with all the whiners on here?

Witcher 3 was brilliant. But you know what? I'm done with it because I completed the story mode.

That's because you've imposed an ending onto the game. A bit like saying "I'm done with ED because I have a Corvette now". Story mode represents a small fraction of the content and activities available to partake in Witcher 3 and if you really are done with it because you've finished the main questline then you've missed out on most of the game.

I played *a lot* of the side quests. Didn't get the DLC though.

I still remeber when people would run through story mode of games like Oblivion and Skyrim then proudly post, "I`ve finished the game in 2 hours! This game sucks!" They completely missed the point of an open-ended rpg where you are supposed to make your own adventure. It`s like eating all the icing and the cherry on a cake that you immediately see, but completely missing the strawbaerries and good cakey stuff inside.

p.s. Oblivion did suck though... And Bethesda don`t help their games when they make it so easy for kids to run through them without any hurdles to slow them down like in good traditional rpgs such as Morrowind.

Oblivion was still better than Skyrim :/ Even with the weird leveled enemies.

Indeed. Those games are, funnily enough, about exploration more than the game itself. For what it's worth, I loved Oblivion but it was my first Elder Scrolls title. I have my gripes with the Elder Scrolls games (even Oblivion) but the world, lore and atmosphere all more than make up for it imo. I wish exploration in ED was as rich. It's nice for making video's and screenshots, but there's nothing really to discover :\

Play Morrowind, then play Skyrim... and notice that Skyrim reuses all the books/lore from Morrowind and any new content is the most derpy, stereotypic trash you can imagine.

Everything to discover needs to be overly elaborate and requires spreadsheets and outside sound tools. Its just poor design decisions.

Now the guardian race and all that is brilliant, the story behind them all etc. They just made it too ridiculously crazy to do, with little to no in game system to help. They need to design the game with a UI system for explorers that include all sorts of different types of scans - this leads to combinations and such that make creating procedural races and ruins and so much easier to crack. They hand crafted this one but made it completely unrealistic. Who would need a giant urn and casket to activate some sort of pillar to get information. Totally unrealistic. They need an exploration UI with scanners and sensors that are two way. Ability to send waveforms and receive them.

I've noticed that no matter what a thread is about, there's always a post or two that has a weird knack to turn it into a way to be a snark about something.

"Hey guys what's your favorite ship in Elite?:

"My favorite ship is the one I grinded 10,000 hours to get and now I can't bring myself to boot up the game anymore"

rinse repeat.

On that note, I've spent the last couple of months having another play around with Skyrim and I'm still at the point where I need to go and see the greybeards to find out what being "dragonborn" is all about.
It's become apparent that you could actually remove the main story from Skyrim completely and it'd barely change the gaming experience.

Which brings us back to ED.
ED is kinda like Skyrim with the main storyline amputated.
It's a testament to the quality of all the stuff that IS in the game that we can still get a decent experience from it even though there isn't a "proper story" driving the game forward.

I'd argue that Skyrim would likely be better without that main quest. The ending really really soured my opinion of that game.

Could be true though! My fav ship was the one that burned me out getting!

Now when ever anyone says "shoe".. I cry and jibber hysterically... because it takes reminds me of, and takes me back to Shu-babassi and all the hours of being jacked up on energy drinks, closed curtains.. blood shot eyes and stacked skimmer missions.

Self inflicted torture for some seemingly pointless rep to un-gray the buy button on a ship I really wanted.

Done and done! mission completed, got the ship.. burnt the candle!

PS Witcher 3 is awesome.. And another is Fallout 4.. there's so much content outside the main story that you're always wanting to push out for another adventure.

I'm surprised that there are no adds on this forum. I'm surprised this is place is even called a forum. Its more like a online pipboy. Raises shield and begins to laugh.

Bye then, don't know you but I guess you won't be missed :p

@All:

AFAIK those bases/settlements are there to be found. This is not some random generated stuff popping up for some and not for others.
The guys who have found it have spent several months searching to find the kind of things we (those who don't explore like they do) can witness on YT/reddit/forum. They have the patience and drive to go looking for things, you who complain about RNG and bad developpement don't (I don't really care until I can shoot em :D).

Don't you get it? It's just like RL. If you want to find something worthwhile, you gotta go out of your little safehouse, go out of your usual ways of getting events and other things shoved up your rear end.

This is a 400 billion starsystem galaxy, this ain't your little backyard where you dig and find a bone 1 out of 3 times.

If you're so fed up with the "bad bad Fdev who can't get it done the way I want it when I want it" just uninstall the game and let others enjoy it, stop spilling your negativity over each and every interesting find people bring up, don't infect the place with your selfishness and unsatisfied ego.

It's a free world we live in, you don't have to play ED to fill the void in your life, You are not forced to spend all your freetime in the game.

You wanna discover things? It takes time, just like discovering the islands in our oceans took time.

Stop complaining and start digging if you really want to be "the one" who found something out of the ordinary.

And rep +1 couldn't of said it any better. Great game/relax/have fun.

I mean, I'm away on an oil rig just now, and I foolishly decided not to pack my hotas and Oculus Rift this trip, then boom the elite comms channels light up with news of the alien bases not least the live one. Yet as I watch the videos and read the forums I am astounded by the salty vitriolic snidey remarks I come across dissing the content. I'm left astounded by the immensely inappropriate negativity of it all. Seriously what is wrong with you people?

I'm not able to fully immerse myself in it yet as I wont see my wife, kids, hotas and VR for another few weeks, yet even viewing it on the 17" 4k screen of my gaming laptop in HD via youtube I am simply stunned by what was found. My mind was blown in hd youtube small screen, 2.1x SS Oculus rift - oooohyah!

So given my evident appreciation for the teaser content, you'll understand my dismay at the lame dissing its getting. Lest y'all forget this wasn't even announced as coming, or alluded to, and there was a general sense that the E3 stream / fragged Farragut / robotic phonetic "Thargoids Return" beacon was all we'd see until 2.4 dropped. Heck even at the lavecon conference they kept this stuff up their sleeves. So here we are with a bonus content addition and yet Fdev are still taking grief?

Frontier I salute you, those sites look stunning and I cannot wait to fully immerse myself in them, please ignore the naysayers, today's Revelations really pulled a rabbit out of the hat. o7

Youre surprised people who are playing the game are disappointed with content while you watch on youtube and havent experienced it yourself.

Honestly it sounds like you shouldve just saved your money and watch youtube videos if trailers get you so excited. Even the first elite trailer was a false representation.

No need to, the salient points are typically covered by in-game GalNet news articles. ;)

Not really. So much not mentioned there. Who would know about the formidine rift, dark wheel, any mystery or story besides 3 main factions fighting if not for this or similar forums?
