This game should be way better given the amazing flight model & platform on initial release; the reason it isn't is purely down to inept decision making - fact! The progress since 2.0 has been laughable & unfortunately, it also seems that Frontier now have bigger fish to fry & Elite is firmly ensconced on the back burner.

I really wish I was as easily satisfied & undiscerning with such low standards as the usual suspects, here! Sorry to pee on your bonfire as you & your fanboy chums dance hand-in-hand around it while grinning inanely, but it's a good job that the human race doesn't have a similar disposition or we'd still be picking fleas off each other or squabbling with the Neanderthals over the nicest caves!

Btw, do you like train spotting, cricket & threads on bobbleheads/paint degradation on ships too? Yep, 'thought so - there's no accounting for taste!

Most important thing in every game is a story with quests with original characters. Elite is like a RNG sandbox with a much potential, but no idea what to with it.

OP. Some people whine about stuff they care about. I used to whine about work, then realised it made me feel worse. I try not to whine now-a-days; cba. When I slip into old habits, I stop as soon as I can.

The real answer is that most people are quite reasonable: either they enjoy the game and are playing it, or don't and have moved on to something else. Some people though, are quite different. They seem to find other people having fun with something they didn't to be offensive. So they dedicate hours of their time to convincing other players that they too should stop playing, or potential players that they shouldn't even bother trying.

I'm frequently disappointed by the vitriol the Internet generates. I guess anonymity fuels that to some degree. However, I will say that as online gaming forums go, this is better than most, probably related to ED's origins and relatively steep learning curve, which have increased the average age of forum users.

For me the game represents amazing value for money, and I'm very much looking forward to the coming months!

I mean, I'm away on an oil rig just now, and I foolishly decided not to pack my hotas and Oculus Rift this trip, then boom the elite comms channels light up with news of the alien bases not least the live one. Yet as I watch the videos and read the forums I am astounded by the salty vitriolic snidey remarks I come across dissing the content. I'm left astounded by the immensely inappropriate negativity of it all. Seriously what is wrong with you people?

I'm not able to fully immerse myself in it yet as I wont see my wife, kids, hotas and VR for another few weeks, yet even viewing it on the 17" 4k screen of my gaming laptop in HD via youtube I am simply stunned by what was found. My mind was blown in hd youtube small screen, 2.1x SS Oculus rift - oooohyah!

So given my evident appreciation for the teaser content, you'll understand my dismay at the lame dissing its getting. Lest y'all forget this wasn't even announced as coming, or alluded to, and there was a general sense that the E3 stream / fragged Farragut / robotic phonetic "Thargoids Return" beacon was all we'd see until 2.4 dropped. Heck even at the lavecon conference they kept this stuff up their sleeves. So here we are with a bonus content addition and yet Fdev are still taking grief?

Not really interested in train spotting or cricket no...mostly hunting, fishing and sailing. Unfortunately I get little for any of them, running your own company does that. ED is a nice way to relax on an evening since I'm not a big tv fan.

I loved playing the game in '84 and certainly do again now.

Looking forward to the new content.

Constructive criticism is one thing, those fits of rage and demanding novels, arrogant remarks and the like are just childish nonsense. Why play a game if you don't like it? And if you don't like it, why writing novels about how much you don't like it? Can't get any less mature, but it makes even less sense because there are evidently people who like the game as it is, and the direction it goes. I think people who are grateful do not find it necessary to find others to validate that thought. Whereas people who are resentful it seems feel the need to find validation for their misery and berate others who disagree. So sad people make noise and everyone else just plays the game.
