Seriously what is wrong with you people?

Can there be a standing order that all PS4 CMDRs have ZERO association with the Legion of Butthurt? We are literally ignoring all the whining and bïtching right now because we are desperately grinding into DBX's lol

Today on the Elite forum a scientific breakthrough.

Through thorough research the discovery was made that different people have different opinions. Some reports talk of people who don't like chocolate icecream. World is in shock.

OP, the alien sites are spectacular. But I wouldn't know what to do with them. I enjoyed the tubes and livestreams from the fellers on sight and treat them like watching a newsbroadcast I'm watching from a bar in Jaques station. But it's no gameplay for Ziggy.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, so this is a pleasant surprise before the 2.4 release. And it apparently works properly the first time out and it's not just a lifeless place holder (well, 4 out of 5 are), so even more of a surprise! ED has taken a step in the right direction, who can complain? I didn't bother with most of the alien content as it was pretty boring, but I think I'll check this out, stuff actually happens at one of them!

viewing it on the 17" 4k screen of my gaming laptop in HD via youtube

This is the problem right here.

Players want to play the game to encounter the new content, they don't want to watch others find it on youtube. At the moment this new content is extremely RNG-gated and only a small number of players can experience it in-game, even if you go out and spend several hours specifically searching for it. Not to mention that FD had the ridiculously silly idea of sending out emails for coordinates for certain content, but expected everyone to be watching the livestream at exactly that moment to get the info. If you weren't watching the livestream at that time you just got a broken link when you checked the email link later. They didn't even send you an in-game message with the coordinates when you logged into the game later. It was just ridiculous, almost like they didn't realize how time zones work.

It's almost like FD is more interested in seeing the new content appear on social media feeds to generate "interest" in the game then they are in having players experience it directly, which is a really effective way of disappointing 99% of their playerbase who will quickly lose any interest in the "content" they don't actually get to experience for themselves.

Sorry, don't understand, is somebody forcibly making you watch YouTube? Thought that was optional...

Cheers

It's great that it's there and everything, but for many, the cryptic approach FD are taking is starting to get annoying. It's not that they're not doing a good job, it's more about the fact that we're always getting teased with yet another mystery. The alien bases and assets are amazing, but at this point they're still just assets.

Some people are simply afraid that there will never be any relevant gameplay attached to those assets. A good example is what they've done with the planetary bases. You can scan stuff and shoot at stuff, but the missions related to them just feel too easy, too simple. I hope it wont be the case with those bases. It feels like a wasted opportunity for something that could be truly amazing.

You don't get it. It's one thing to find out about it on youtube, but having to systematically rely on youtube in order to find it is another thing entirely. Frontier is locking their content behind an incredibly huge amount of randomness in order to generate hype through youtube. I get that they want to make the players act like a community, relying on each other to find stuff. But it still feels like lazy game design. Games shouldn't have to rely on youtube and forums in order to feel alive.

Yeah I'm so impressed that I'm uninstalling the game! So long & thanks for all the fish excrement Frontier!

Oh & OP?...good luck with the rep-hunting! :D

Such irony, that's pretty much the fastest route into what you call the "Legion of Butthurt"....once the ships and the gear you grind for get more expensive. ;)

Your enthusiasm will wear off when you realize you just repeat the first 5 hours and gameplay over... and over... and over... and over

Funny, 2.5 years into the game & I find it no more repetitive than any other game I have played.

Or are you just upset that you aren't "The mighty hero who saves the galaxy" (TM)?

I understand your point, I am away for the summer. As such, I don't have any ability to play Elite at all. Staying active in the forums is all I have for the next two months.

Yes, there is a lot of whining; people want perfection. We will never get it; but that doesn't stop us from whining when we don't get it.

Op, here's a tip, and I sometimes share your opinions.
Your post could have been made about the topic you think is positive (in this instance, looking at the pretty aliens) without any mention of the whining. In that way, you would be countering the effects of the negative with a positive, rather than a double negative with a positive as an afterthought. Have a good trip out. Sorry you forgot your hotas.

Bye then, don't know you but I guess you won't be missed :p

@All:

AFAIK those bases/settlements are there to be found. This is not some random generated stuff popping up for some and not for others.
The guys who have found it have spent several months searching to find the kind of things we (those who don't explore like they do) can witness on YT/reddit/forum. They have the patience and drive to go looking for things, you who complain about RNG and bad developpement don't (I don't really care until I can shoot em :D).

Don't you get it? It's just like RL. If you want to find something worthwhile, you gotta go out of your little safehouse, go out of your usual ways of getting events and other things shoved up your rear end.

This is a 400 billion starsystem galaxy, this ain't your little backyard where you dig and find a bone 1 out of 3 times.

If you're so fed up with the "bad bad Fdev who can't get it done the way I want it when I want it" just uninstall the game and let others enjoy it, stop spilling your negativity over each and every interesting find people bring up, don't infect the place with your selfishness and unsatisfied ego.

It's a free world we live in, you don't have to play ED to fill the void in your life, You are not forced to spend all your freetime in the game.

You wanna discover things? It takes time, just like discovering the islands in our oceans took time.

Stop complaining and start digging if you really want to be "the one" who found something out of the ordinary.

I've just unlocked Bill Turner (yawn!) then used up 10 CIF - that took forever to acquire - on G5 PAs that were barely 60% of the best roll possible; this encapsulates my experience with engineers & along with the promise of yet more grind with the Alien item drops - don't Frontier ever learn? - is the last straw for me after 2.5 years! Definitely had my money's worth though!

This game is so beautiful, but so tedious & lifeless!

I'm outta here!

So because you have to have everything *now* (TM), the grind you inflict upon yourself to satisfy your instant gratification is somehow F: Dev's fault? Wow, talk about psychological projection.

P.S: Another narcisistic rage quitter who won't be missed. Can you promise us you won't be back every day due to your rampant need to be at the center of attention?

Engineers need an overhaul, that's for sure, but lifeless? As an open only player, I beg to differ.

God that rhetoric is so g tired. You should try hanging a ball of wool off a door handle or ask someone to wiggle a laser pointer around on the wall, you could probably squeeze a few hundred hours out of that by my reckoning. If you really don't think ED is more repetitive than any other game you've ever played, then you've probably only ever played Space Invaders. For a game world with such vast scope and potential the actual core gameplay within it couldn't be much simpler or any more repetitive. Enjoying simple repetition is fine. Trying to pretend that's not what it is, well that's just dishonest.
