What to do when most of the fossil sites are depleted?

Hello everyone!

I found myself in a pickle playing the Secrets of dr. Wu dlc.
I’m currently on tacano research facility and in order to continue with mission two (stegoceratops) I must have the stego genome extracted on 100%. Turned out the sites which can be found are depleted :( I got the genome at 96% and I can progress any further.

I spend a lot of time in the game (cause I love it). I rebuilded every island twice to achieve 5 star rating on all of them. Doing so I decided to sell some fossils instead of extracting them in order to make quick bucks.

Now I literally hit the wall. There is no option to buy fossils in the game. I think this should be added in the game. Maybe if players can trade dna or fossils in the future.

I’m curious does anyone else has the same problem as mine. I really don’t want to start over :/
Thanks!

Make sure all the dig sites for the Stegosaurus are depleted.
It's easy to overlook one.

I did checked every site many times.

Even so - for exampe if I miss spino dna and there is now way to dig more I’ll be in the same situation for mission 3.

Yeaaah you really shouldnt sell fossils until you've 100% the species they belong to. Sounds like youre in a permanent pickle there, unless you have actually missed a site, but it sounds to me like you've sold too many stego fossils. Theres always a bit of a surpluss but it's rather small most of the times, like 4-5 fossils max. But its just a terrible idea to sell them before you have 100% in general.

I’m not sure if this is true. I think there is an in-game protection mechanism against selling off too much fossils.

When I went for “Clocked at 32mph,” I kept selling off fossils that I don’t need but after a certain amount, the game told me that there is no market to sell off fossil of that species. I’m not sure if this protection will expire over time. I hope not. [uhh]

OP please look harder as Lora suggested! [sulk]

After I unlocked everything before the DLC came out I got rid of the unneeded buildings and reorganized my parks, only to need them again once I had the new genomes. Did you maybe do something similar?

The game very clearly display a lock on a fossil site if you don't have enough expedition buildings on the islands and prompts you about it. It clearly shows depleted.

In my opinion that's a really big gameplay flaw.

If u play the game from the release there is big chance you already depleted most of the sites. The game give you choice to extract or sell the fossils, without ever warning you that there is a chance that a future gameplay can be affected by your decisions. And that's a flaw in every way.

I bought the dlc mostly to support the developer - I want only the Spinoraptor anyway (the other hybrids are lame. Even the movies ditched this direction). But since I paid for it I just want to finish it.

Now I feel stupid :/

No, there's a building inactive somewhere or a dinosaur you haven't researched. It's not possible to run out of dig sites without 100% all of it.

If you are absolutely certain, submit a bug report.

Yeah it must be a bug since the game stops you from selling fossils after a certain amount are sold.
