What type of controller will you be using for Elite Dangerous

Yes, I had seen, you are the only one here with this stick! :D:D:D
What you have to say about the dead zone?
If I buy one, do you help me set up?

What dead zone? I plug it in and use it? There's no real dead zone. Just a slight "notch" at the center that requires the slightest touch of force to move out of.

Obviously the throttle is a small 1 inch big slider moving over a 2 inch range but I find it OK.

Saitek Cyborg FLY 5

I replaced my old Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 with the lighter, sleeker and more desk-space-friendly Saitek Cyborg FLY 5

The force feedback on the Sidewinder was good but the ergonomics were bad for my large hands and it was painful after a couple of hours. The Cyborg's adjustability was just what my hand needed and fits very comfortably. Also, the base folds up to take up less space when not gaming (more acceptable to wifey). On top of that it looks like it came straight out of an Elite starship.

I only have force feedback sticks and HOTAS and would very much like FD to implement force feedback (haptic feedback) right across the game.

I'm too fusy over the grips, but if I have to move away from force feedback sticks/HOTAS then I'd go for a stick with more than 1 hat on the top of the stick. So most likely the Defender Cobra M5 with some extras.

I really would like full and proper force feedback support in both games (ED & SC). But for now with ED, all I can think of is the continued pressure to implement it when all the real advanced joystick settings and profiles get put into the game with a force feedback section for forces and options - where to apply and maybe some separated strengths options, and of course the important options for the FFB motors centring/deadzones.

Question: Which forum section would be the best to make the request for full and proper force feedback support ?

i got myself a t-flight hotas x, i am very happy with it, quite a bargain for it's cheap price.

will leave one with extra funds or savings for the really big ones later, or some other gadget, say... OR dk2. xD

Looking around

I'm currently missing a trick. I'm set up with my 360 game pad and voice attack but can't seem to work out how to look around my cockpit and side windows. I'm missing a big part of the game here, can anyone help? I've tries using configuring the mouse to do it but that's not working either. :(

I have a 3d extreme pro, works well but not enough buttons for true HOTAS, ordered a x52 PRO, and to put it mildly very excited, paired with Voice Attack and ED Track I WILL BE INVINCEBLE!!
at least until someone exterminates me :)

Doesn't work?

Typically there is a key to enable/disable head view/look. Make sure you know what that is first :) Else it won't work.

Logitech G940, but now i notice that not all inputs are separated.. ie the feet pedals are also seen as joystick Axis Y (i believe)...

joystick newby, but a bit worried for now.

I've been using the x55 Rhino in conjunction with voice attack. Took around 2 - 3 days to get everything saved just so and working correctly but now that it is flying around truly fun.

I've been using a Saitek X52 Pro. I actually bought it when FD announced the game on Kickstarter. Its been great from Alpha Combat builds onward! I use it along with a TrackIR 5 and voice attack. My DK2 will be here soon also!!!! :D

I'm using mouse + keyboard for now.
Wanna retain keyboard, I like it better than a hotas for writing and better hotkey access. So I'm thinking about getting a Joystick to complement the keyboard, but not sure yet - I don't have very fond memories of Joysticks in the past and it will just be something else, that would have to fit on my desk or to be packed away after every use. So I guess I'll try it a bit more with my mouse - I love mouse gaming anyway.
