What type of controller will you be using for Elite Dangerous

I have an old Logitech Wingman 3D I bought to play FS 2004 back than.
It is still working very well but it has not enough buttons and the centering are not the best so this was the time for the upgrade so now I am waiting for my X52 pro comming next friday. :)

I have been using these and have no intention to change that.:D

P.S.: Yay PNG alpha channel power!

How do sync my controler to the game?

I have been using an xbox360 controller for flying games, and I don't know how to make Elite use it.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and keyboard to control thrusters. It works surprisingly well. I've never been a joystick fan, but I'm really enjoying using the Logitech. I'll probably end up upgrading at some point to something a little better, though to be fair the Logitech has been working fine - Are there any good stand alone twisty joysticks other than the T.16000M?

X-52 Pro, TrackIR and Saitek Pro flight rudder pedals. It helps to be a flight sim enthusiast on the side since I already had these lying around and found out they work great with Elite as well.

I just really started to get into the beta and thought I'd seriously give the Key+Mouse combo a try.. it's ok for some things, like general flying around (docking, navigation etc) but for combat, it just doesn't have the responsiveness needed to keep up. I'm sure with practise it might be but after having my ship handed to me for the 3rd time without really scoring much, if any, damage to the pirates I've decided that at this time, K+M is not up to the task. Maybe there will be some kind of additional flight assist later on for K+M combo but for now.. it's not enough.

I do own a Saitek X52 from years ago.. but you know.. I have limited desktop space and a small child running around who likes to grab things from the tops of desks etc.. so I won't be going to the trouble of getting it out of the box. Maybe in the future, when I have a bigger desk and a separate room just for my computer where I can lock the door etc.... maybe.

So for me, it's going to be the XBox Controller for Windows. I've not yet flown with it but I found it out from the storage and it's all plugged in ready for my gaming session today.

If I could just find a joystick with an analogy hat and thrust controller (even if a small slider) I would very happy.

It seems only "big" units offer an analog hat :(

Is there any info if the G940 is going well with Elite ? Since it is a FFB joystick it might be a little odd to use it if there is not FFB support in the game.
Also, I read somewhere that Elite doesn't support more than one or two controller, but the G940 is separated in three controllers (joystick, throttle and pedals). Is it true ?

That's not true. ED support multiple controllers for a long time already.

My ED setup:

Thrustmaster Warthog + FSSB R3 mod
MFG Crosswind rudder pedals
TrackIR

So far I'm very delighted with the support for flight gear peripheral. Well done, FD!

Elite Dangerous are planning on implementing force feedback (haptic feedback) support at some point, hopefully within the next 6 months to a year if enough support is shown on the forums by us :)

And recently from FD (David) Q&A:

hello

have you read this?

Little*jobbie questions David:

2). Force feedback will it be supported?.

2. I'm sure we will - I don't have a 'when' just now.

We also now know that CIG are working on force feedback support. That's the UK CIG working with a few reconditioned Logitech G940's. (being tested by CIG UK - confirmed) and I quote:

"Thank you for your question. We recently received a couple of refurbished G940s at the UK office. So Joystick force feedback is very much something we plan to dig into a bit further".

I just hope its not waiting way past release on both games before force feedback support is added. It is a large job, all those forces need to be planned out and then created not only for all ships events on all the various classes of ships, but also as the games unfold, right across the game universe.

I'm happy to re-home ANY MS force feedback 2 joystick, or any other force feedback joystick or HOTAS. Broken or working condition. Just PM me.

Love force feedback!

I currently have a Saitek Fly5 but I think i'm going to have to replace it since it seems to be suffering from the hat switch bug thats been mentioned in the known issues thread. I am also experiencing a problem with some of the buttons that appear to be a bit loose even though this is the only game it gets used on. Does anyone else have these issues with their Fly5 or is it just me? I'd like to know if others are experiencing this issue with this stick before I spend the money on an X52 pro which seems to be by far the most popular stick for this game.

Right now, I'm using a slightly modified classic keyboard setup for old times sake. I would like to get a joystick in the near future - and certainly enough time before final release that I can get comfortable with a new control system!

I've been looking at a range of options and I think I've settled on a shortlist of a relatively entry level stick in the FLY 5

or an 'all the bells and whistles' HOTAS setup with the X55

The issues with the latter if I go for it are going to be;

a) price - it's not cheap, I need to get saving!
b) availability - struggling to find any stock in the UK

Whilst its maybe not what i put in the poll, I am now a happy X55 hotas owner.

In the rift I shall be using this by isself.

however when playing on a screen I also use my xbox pad at the same time to take the slack..... (controls which are covered in the rift by head tracking - so free look and the menu controls)

I just threw mine in the bin. The yaw started going off on its own and then the pitch/roll.

2 weeks of hardcore gameplay and its broken already lol.

Just bought a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for 20 quid off eBay and its so much better :D

I started with my X52 but its uncomfertable for the hours I play and I couldnt get a perfect sensitivity.

So Im flying and clocked about 100 kills with my Razor mouse and keyboard.
