What would you prefer to fleet carriers, or like to see in the game soon?

I just wrote down a wishlist of my own.

More ship diversity - more small ships especially.
More ships to receive physical damage modelling like the Anaconda has.
All ships & modules to accrue wear-and-tear from use - and this to be altered by engineering or extreme environments. Overcharged guns wear quicker, for example. Efficient ones wear less.
More "professions" in the game.
More points-of-interest in the game.
Genuinely new weapons in the game. Not just tweaks to existing ones.
Some more, possibly specialised, variants of the Scarab. Maybe just bigger ones for bigger ships that can carry more materials? Maybe special military ones for base assaults?
The Ability to hire NPC Crew to man turrets and operate Scarabs and fly (as wingmen) other ships you own.
The ability to be hired BY an NPC to provide an escort, or to fly a SLF or navigate.
Missions that supply the ship. Could be anything from "Take this hot viper to murder X" "Take this T7 hulk to be scrapped" to "Take this ASP and photograph THIS".
The ability to send your NPC crew on missions from the mission board and either just wait to see how they do, or follow them and watch.
More complex ship functions. Like the ability to switch shields to fore and aft modes to strengthen them according to what you're doing.
More from the Thargoids.

For me, Fleet Carriers are of no interest at all. I like to fly and view ED as a kind of futuristic flight sim.

Salvager profession, where you find derelict ships and either salvage ship parts to fix and keep/sell on or reclaim the whole ship to fix and keep/sell
Military profession, where you escort capital ships into battle
Make research limpets worth carrying and just make the science profession better
Factories, where you produce stuff. (Like in X beyond)
Rare POI's to find in deep space, maybe like space hulks or big space creatures
Different srv types

Make supercruise more interesting, add in comets, solar flairs, large space clouds ect

Another one I just thought of. The ability to drop a mining robot on an asteroid or other body and pop back later to pick up it's output.

A moon permit (and other permit locked bodies)
A trail of breadcrumbs for unlocking all permit locked systems. Preferably one that is solveable by a typical single player & not easily copied from a youtube how-to guide video.
Put the ADS back in the game.
The ability to at least attempt landing on any planet with warnings for exceeding pressure, turbulence & corrosive limits rather than exclusion zones, and some advantage or reason for attempting to do so.

I don't really mind what gets added to the game as long as I can continue to play the game I bought & enjoy. If I wanted a 'game changer' update I'd buy a different game. I like the one I bought so add to it don't change what's already there & presumably was part of a planned, modular development just for the sake of it.

To know what the plan is, no more of this super secret 'we can't wait to tell you' baloney. It's been years. Just tell us what's planned, and if the plan changes, tell us why.

A wing carrier might be an idea. You could dock four medium ships on the outside on the surface. It can have a fsd fitted and then combine all five fsd's to get increased jump range

My #1 wish item:

Ability for actual multicrew ability in a ship where a long-term friend can be an actual crew member and full participant.

Owner of the ship can set privileges. Roles can then be rapidly toggled between crew. The owner of the ship takes on responsibility of the crew. If the owner accepts a bad crew member, too bad. Other gaming details can be worked out. This enables real-world friends to a fully shared experience on a ship.

  • piloting & fixed weapons
  • navigating
  • weapons (turrets, chaff, heatsinks)
  • sensors (FSS, DSS)
  • trade/inventory control
  • SRV
  • fighter

Edit: I have a co-pilot chair. I want a co-pilot.

An actual Carrier that's principle existence is to park and transport additional ships to and from where ever. Along with the ability to install a variety of "OPTIONAL" not mandated mods, such as a Fuel Scoop, Shipping, Advance Maintenance, Outfitting, Remote Workshop, all of which would have a cost.

Of your list, I'd take these.

I'd also like to hire on as a Fed or Imperial merc to do combat missions. Dock on their large ships and actually travel to a warzone/hotspot.

Hate the idea of legs, but am interested in atmospheric planets we can land on.

I'd like some ships and weapons that are not crippled to provide 'balance' in a mmo environment. Maybe make these available in solo only.

These would be a good starting point. :)

I can think of a few things here and there

Heavy-duty balance pass (this would probably require 6-12 months of iterative betas though).

Wear and tear on components to encourage long term usage of cheaper ones, make component integrity a useful balance lever and to reward efficient flying.

More NPC crew mechanics, such as gunners, SRV operation, NPC wingmates etc. While we are at it, merge NPC crew and multicrew into the same set of mechanics.

Remove multicrew telepresence as it makes no sense from a lore perspective. Instead player multicrew should just be a player taking control of an NPC crew member and have nothing to do with their in-game CMDR.

More in-depth galactic economy simulation, covering regional shortages of commodities, faction trade fleet activities and regional security issues rather than each station existing in its own economic bubble.

More characterful interactions with NPCs and factions. They need goals, personalities, preferences and motivations beyond just a couple of tags.

Intermediate sub-capital ships that occupy the vast gulf between the current Battlecruisers and Interdictors and their teeny tiny escorts. Where are our destroyers, cruisers, combat carriers, monitors etc?

And of course, more ships, modules and mods. There's several notable gaps in ship rosters, as there's a lot of ships that currently have no real competition, while there's entire market segments where a manufacturer has a monopoly.
