What would your Local Zoo Pack look like?

Fun concept! My local zoo pack - for animals that are not (yet) in Planet Zoo - would be:

Taronga Zoo Pack
1) Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
2) Francois langur
3) Cotton-top tamarin
4) Australian sealion
5) Common wombat
6) Short-beaked echidna
7) Emu
8) Corroboree frog (exhibit) - though I would rather the frill neck lizard, but the Corroboree frog is a conservation success at my local zoo.

It would be a decent injection of Australian animals.

(Excluding aviary birds, which is very sad. Birds are such a massive part of zoos, and bird conservation projects are among the most successful! Personally I would prefer an aviary pack to come before any more typical packs.)

5. Two Toed Sloth
6. Patagonian Mara

The nearest zoo to me, Greenville Zoo, is relatively small and I’m actually not sure off hand if we have 7 viable habitat species not currently in the game, but let’s see:
  1. Amur leopard
  2. American alligator
  3. Ocelot
  4. Greater rhea
  5. Siamang
  6. Schmidt’s red-tailed guenon
  7. Bat-eared fox
You know what, I’m happy with it. I think the only viable species past that would be the debatable alligator snapping turtle, a handful of other small primates, and the Masai giraffe.

Or if i go for my state’s larger zoo, Riverbanks…
  1. California sea lion
  2. Matschie’s tree kangaroo
  3. Hamadryas baboon
  4. Fishing cat
  5. Golden lion tamarin
  6. American alligator
  7. Prehensile-tailed porcupine
Either looks fantastic to me.
Figured I'd revisit this a year and four DLC packs later. The first list no longer needs the Amur leopard, American alligator, or siamang. For the second, we got the sea lions and alligators, and the zoo no longer has their tree kangaroos and I think their porcupines (they at least haven't been on display in about a year). So.

Greenville Zoo Animal Pack
  1. Ocelot
  2. Greater rhea
  3. Schmidt’s red-tailed guenon
  4. Bat-eared fox
  5. Angolan colobus monkey
  6. Alligator snapping turtle
  7. Masai giraffe
...Maybe not the most enticing lineup, but I like it. Literally the only other options would be Geoffroy's spider monkey, Chilean flamingo, and domestic pigs, goats, and chickens.

Riverbanks Zoo Animal Pack
  1. Hamadryas baboon
  2. Fishing cat
  3. Golden lion tamarin
  4. African spurred tortoise
  5. Black-footed cat
  6. White-faced saki
  7. Linnaeus' two-toed sloth
Definitely not the most broadly exciting pack, but the alternatives are generally at least somewhat redundant or domestics. The remaining options would consist strictly of: Diana monkey and squirrel monkey (the main contenders in my eyes), North American river otter, harbor seal, American flamingo, rockhopper penguin, gentoo penguin, alpaca, Nigerian dwarf goat, Nubian goat, domestic rabbit, domestic pig.

Very funny how by far the biggest group in both zoos not represented in PZ are monkeys, and none of the monkeys in PZ are at these zoos, or the majority of zoos I've been to. In fact, the mandrill is the only one I'm certain I've seen.

The closest big zoo near me is Zoo Tampa in Lowry Park in Tampa, FL.
  • Angolan Colobus Monkey
  • Florida Manatee
  • American Black Bear
  • Orinoco Crocodile
  • Red River Hog
  • Impala
  • Key Deer
  • Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby

I figured I would redo my Colchester Zoo pack, as there have been a few changes - the Amur leopard and red river hog have come to the game, while the Burmese python is no longer kept there. This is my new Colchester Zoo Pack:

1. Gelada
2. Bush dog
3. Grey crowned crane
4. Visayan spotted deer
5. Rock hyrax
6. African spurred tortoise
7. Victoria crowned pigeon
Walkthrough exhibit. Rainbow lorikeet

I also spotted that, in the past couple of weeks, a small zoo on the UK's south coast has added the best animal in the world to their collection. So without further ado, here is the Drusillas Park Pack:

1. Yellow-throated marten
2. Mantled guereza
3. Sulawesi crested macaque
4. Red-footed tortoise
5. Azara's agouti
6. Ring-tailed coati
7. Shetland pony
Walkthrough exhibit. Linne's two-toed sloth

Woah, coming back, I got some of these. Also, visited the zoo about a month ago and, like @Cynogale bennettii, imma redo it. Some of these were added and others got a relative that can kinda fill that gap, so:

  1. Greater rhea - it would be a great addition to the SA pampas
  2. Black-and-gold howler monkey - more monkeys, loud noises that would be amazing to hear in-game
  3. White-cheeked gibbon - now that brachiation is possible, these would be a blast
  4. Fossa - our cat-like carnivore from Madagascar
  5. Nubian goat - yeah, it's kinda "basic", kinda "meh", but it'd be a good addition for petting zoos. This goat will make a fine addition to the collection
  6. Ankole cattle - looks like the amazing Texas longhorn, y'all. Wah-wah the Watusi. Take a chance and get up with this dance
  7. American black bear - I mean, c'mon. These are cool guys, more arboreal than the brown bears. Plus, the 2 at the zoo are brown in color
  8. Houston toad (E) - critically endangered, the Houston Zoo is (obviously) trying to save the Houston toad. So, can't have a Planet Zoo Houston pack without it
Wow, things sure have changed. The zoo has changed a lot, too, so let's see what imma do, especially now with the new animal types we have:

Houston Zoo animal pack
  1. American black bear - I can't keep repeating how important this is to a typical North American zoo. Fight me, but I will crush you like a bag of sour cream and onion potato chips
  2. African dwarf crocodile - never realized we had one of these until a few visits ago, so imma add it to help bring African reptiles closer to a close
  3. Black howler monkey - a beautiful South American monkey. I hope for these in the game
  4. Roseate spoonbill - a pretty pink South American bird and a nice animal overall
  5. Southern screamer - supposedly they scream. I never heard it. They live in a large, open enclosure, so definitely feasible
  6. White-nosed coati - our little coati might just make it in-game, especially if the Houston Zoo is ever consulted by Frontier. C'mon Frontier; this is the 2nd most visited zoo in the United States
  7. Banded mongoose - could be our meerkat/prairie dog alternative. Perfect for children's zoos, actually
  8. Hoffman's two-toed sloth (WE) - this sloth is so slothy. So lazy. Every zoo visit he/she is in another spot, but I hardly see it move otherwise

The closest big zoo near me is Zoo Tampa in Lowry Park in Tampa, FL.
  • Angolan Colobus Monkey
  • Florida Manatee
  • American Black Bear
  • Orinoco Crocodile
  • Red River Hog
  • Impala
  • Key Deer
  • Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby
Now that we have the red river hog, I’m officially swapping it out with the shoebill.

Drusillas:

  • Serval
  • Mantled Guereza
  • Ring-Tailed Coati
  • Azara's Agouti
  • Sulawesi Black Macaque
  • White-Faced Saki
  • Yellow-Throated Marten
-Linneaus' Two-Toed Sloth (WE)

My zoo actually has fairly good coverage though. Of the species they hold we already have:
  • Red Panda
  • Bactrian Camel
  • Ring-Tailed Lemur
  • Giant Anteater
  • Eurasian Lynx
  • North American Beaver
  • Black-Tailed Prairie Dog
  • Meerkat
  • Fennec Fox
  • Binturong
  • Lar Gibbon
  • Capybara
  • Asian Small-Clawed Otter
  • Boa Constrictor

So it's just the following left, several of which have pretty close substitutes (*):

  • Linneaus' Two-Toed Sloth (*)
  • Yellow-Throated Marten
  • Six-Banded Armadillo (*)
  • Serval
  • Mantled Guereza
  • Black Lemur
  • Humboldt Penguin (*)
  • Rainbow Lorikeet
  • Tufted Capuchin (*)
  • Emperor Tamarin
  • Scarlet Ibis
  • Common Marmoset
  • Cotton-Top Tamarin
  • Goeldi's Marmoset
  • Rodriguez Flying Fox (*)
  • Great Grey Owl
  • Pygmy Marmoset
  • Chilean Flamingo (*)
  • Red-Handed Tamarin
  • White-Faced Saki
  • Sulawesi Black Macaque
  • Black-Capped Squirrel Monkey
  • Silvery Marmoset
  • Cape Porcupine (*)
  • Black-Cheeked Lovebird
  • Ring-Tailed Coati
  • Common Dwarf Mongoose
  • Azara's Agouti
  • Golden Lion Tamarin
  • Sacred Ibis
  • Cattle Egret
  • Arabian Rock Hyrax
  • Red-Footed Tortoise
  • African Spoonbill
  • Domestic Goats, donkeys, sheep and chickens.

So really if you take out all the monkeys and birds there's not a lot left.

Madrid Zoo-Aquarium Animal Pack

I tried to avoid Iberian "clones" too similar to species already in the game (Spanish ibex, Iberian lynx...) and fully aquatic species (this is a Zoo-Aquarium, after all, and has dolphins too). The problem is it ended up being a pack with too many ungulates, maybe:

  • Hamadryas baboon
  • Blackbuck
  • Pere David's deer
  • Barbary sheep
  • Yellow footed rock wallaby
  • Patagonian mara
  • Grey crowned crane
  • Veiled chameleon (E)

Greater rhea
Southamerican coati
Patagonian mara
Black and gold howler monkey
Hamadryas baboon (i know, random lol)
Muscovy duck
Collared peccary
WTE: macaws

So basically a latinamerican pack with a baboon for some reason.
