Powerplay Whatever happened to the Powerplay Open only Proposal (POOP) ?

There was a massive row, and IIRC it was amended to a suggestion that PP merits permanently lose some fraction of their value if they are taken out of Open at any point.

Then it all went strangely quiet.

I fear FD chickened out.

Wouldn't be the first time...

Legacy engineering anyone?

If any other developer let people keep now-unobtainable and more powerful gear because it might offend people, there'd be a riot.

ESO had a racial passive shake-up a few weeks ago. The change utterly destroyed people's builds that they spent months on.

ZOS didn't chicken out though. They gave us some free race change tokens, and told us to deal with it. If we don't like it, tough.

My switch to ESO has taught me something: Game design by committee doesn't work. Mostly because us players haven't got a clue.

I feel this is what happened to OOPP: The community cried "But our game FD!", and FD went silent, hoping it will go away.

Honestly FD shouldn't have said anything until beta had already begun.

Power Play Open Only makes logical sense. But the PVE'ers would argue that they were being denied part of the game, even though the SIMULATION would better be supported by this alteration, I don't see FDEV changing it...

Basically. People want all the rewards for free.

I highly recommend they avoid many MMOs, which really do force PvE players to take part in PvP to get rewards & abilities that are downright essential to end-game PvE content.

All I know is that this acronym must stay...

(PS I think all things in Open should get a premium, to recognise the added risk, and to encourage it, without making it the default. I use the ITATOSGAP acronym for this conceit, it's catchy ;))

It's yet another example of FDev's recent strategy "Start things but don't finish them and silence them so we can't get negative crituque."

Doing nothing is basically FDev's strategy as of late. We basically have no devs atm. And thus, noone is working on that proposal and with working I am referring to discussing if it is a good idea, and if yes, how to implement it and then actually implementing it. Since no mentionable changes are coming until the end of 2020, I expect nothing to happen right now.

So yeah, PP keeps being as dead as it is and merely be a way to avoid local bounties and do some PvP ... or just shoot anyone who isn't pledged to your or your allies' faction. This is PP atm and that certainly won't change. Atleast not until 2020 ... and from experience I can say the upcoming years it won't change either. A realistic date may be 2026 +/- 2 years, dev tolerance, ofcourse.

The proposal went as dead as Powerplay already is.

Funny enough, most of the critics against Open mode Powerplay didn’t even play or participate with the Powerplay community in the first place.

I'm all for open only pp. I play solo and have all the PP weapons i'll ever need. You go.
Not that open only will be what you think. Combat in PP is a tiny fraction of what you think it will be.
IF there are bots in the game, that's up to FD to deal with.
