As others have more eloquently, and less bluntly, pointed out, the OP is senseless in itself. Yo can at present, start from scratch at any moment.
The less thought trough comment about developer documents ect, blah, blah.
Nobody at the time would have thought that we would end up in a Galaxy with no real crime and punishment system, which was also called for then.
The implications of an Ironman mode today would give nothing to the game in any way, and just further the threads of griefing, ganking, ect.
I can honestly not fathom why it is necessary for a CMDR to not only blow up another CMDR, to also be certain that the victim MUST start from scratch...
So it is not the blowing up, but the knowledge of the disruption and despair of the victim that is sweet?

People in RL displaying that sort of behaviour are usually locked up forever after their deeds. Good!!
If your excuse is "this is just a game...." I still do not concede to it, because the trait displayed is still not healthy, I would think DayZ is more your style, or why not support your local talking head politician into advocating real life gladiator games? That must be the ultimate Iron Man mode

oohh yes there is some risk involved
Playing a game with pixels should not concentrate on harvesting salt and tears, it is sick and perverted, the game offers the possibilities of measuring who is the "Best" and you can shine in glory, even when you are congratulated by your slain foe, acknowledging your superiority, i dont think we also need "Corpse Jumping" and ect...
