Alright folks, I need you to get out your best tinfoil hats for this one! :p

Elite just posted this on their Facebook page, and I don't think I've seen it before. Now, FD seems to be working pretty hard on the included ships (which is good, since we've only seen a handful of the promised ones.) so I'm hoping its a ship that will actually be in game.

Any ideas as to what it is? Or is it just another 'generic' ship design that they have been throwing around in the early artwork.

Looks like a fighter class ship but not like anything in the previous games. :S

You know, if I look at it long enough, this reminds me of an Eagle in a way. FD still hasn't confirmed if different factions will have different models of the same ship, but I could see it being an 'Alliance' version of an Eagle.

Whatever it is, based on current artwork and designs within the newsletters, I'm guessing its not Federal or Imperial. Although I could be looking too much into this.:cool:

It's too big to be a Hawk. Eagle maybe. The cockpit at the front is a good indicator for size, and it looks about the right overall size for an Eagle.

Not sure if the design fits the Federation or Empire, so I'll hedge a guess that it's Independent. :)

Looking at the picture it has a similar colour scheme to the big Federation cruiser, white with a yellow stripe. A navy ship then? :S

EDIT: although the yellow just might be rust.

@ Geraldine Really? I dunno. The BIG Federation design seemed more... clean... and white. I'm not entirely sure its Imperial or Federation. Alliance or Independent seems more likely.

It might be the Hawk, but my money is on some variant of the Eagle. It just has a similair 'feel' to it that I can't quite place.

I'm inclined to agree with Alliance/independent idea. So far the Imperial ships have been pretty and curvy, the Federation ships have been clean and angular... this is somewhere in between.

Looking at the pic the cockpit size and shape make me think it might a Alliance Harris?

By the look of it it has to be an alliance ship, doesn't look like the federation or empire ship design that they have discussed so far.

Come on Ashley, tell us what it is!

It could just be (as yet) an un-named concept ship? Perhaps it's not based on any of the original ships at all but an entirely new design? Looking at it again perhaps Selezen is right and it is bigger than a Hawk, but if it is an Eagle were are it's wings? Very confused now :S:S:S

He's not going to tell us...all will be revealed in an upcoming update, no doubt...

It's concept art, so not necessarily an existing ship or even a final design.

The overall shape is very evocative of the Fer-de-Lance though. The size is a bit small maybe...but maybe not. The FDL was always more of a pleasure cruiser and a capable fighter than a big trader, so would be on the smaller side...
