What's your fuel scooping method?

Depends on if I am in a hurry or not. If I am, I will set throttle to 75% and yaw around the star just on the edge of the gravity ring. Scoop goes to max and heat usually stabilizes around 100% depending on the star type.

If I am not in a hurry or need to get a beverage or visit the privy, I'll just set throttle to 30 m/s when scoop is at max draw and slip out of the captains chair for a moment.

99% heat max - I'm almost sure you begin to take wear and tear after 100% (when critical warning appears). Just bob and weave to keep temps down with throttle in the blue.

Oh yes, make sure you have sufficient source-material....don't want to run out halfway through :D

I just dive in until the intake is good, then throttle down and head for just above the horizon, Alt-Tab to my browser and browse the net until I hear that the tank is full. Or read a book on my Kindle...

I do this as well, and I'm using an A grade scoop. Takes 5 minutes or so to half-fill my ASP tank @ 98% heat.

Off-topic, but wow, that is a nice looking cockpit. Is that the Imperial Clipper I hear so much about?

The grade of scoop seems to make all the difference here. When I started out I grabbed the most basic scoop and it was all a bit "meh", so I swapped it for a field repair kit. I then learnt that the repair kit is a bit of a chocolate fireguard as it doesn't work on thrusters, so swapped back to a fuel scoop, but bought one of the top end A scoops.

I'm not sure but I think the size of the scoop affects scoop rate more than the grade.

Full speed just outside the green line, pull out when FSD recharges if on a multi-jump route otherwise turn towards station after I've targetted it in the nav list. Reduce speed to 75% if fuel starts dropping too low due to long jumps, but usually it evens out in the long run.

I used to do the sip and gulp because you can afk a little, but the downside is you are easy to interdict and it's boring.

Now I like to 100% throttle orbit the star with my destination at the top of the compass. I dive down to max (176 /s) in my asp and hold it while I heat up to ~120% or sometimes 130% heat. Then I dive back up and out, the heat drops off almost instantly and I dive back in again. It looks great orbiting the stars and I just find it kind of fun on that final pass coming over the edge of the horizon of the star to the destination and straightening out.

I love binary stars like this one the most, I fly a figure 8 loop around the star, passing between them.

I do it by orbiting star with highest speed possible and keeping heat on or near 100 % by adjusting distance if needed.

get close to where my heat rises to just under 100%(96 - 99), come to a stop, and wait. best refuel transfer rate from what i can tell. any closer and i alway seem to drop out of SC.... my adder usually runs around 445 heat normally so, i'm pretty close by the time i get to 99% heat. ~15/s refuel (base model fuel scoop)
