Which faction would you work for?

Who would you work for?

Money only matters to a certain level. Once you make a million per panther load of slaves, the subtle joys of life come forward - the sight of nuclear sun rising on the surface of Rock in Eta Cassiopeia, the implosion of Boa carrying a double crossing spy shortly after take off from Grant's Claim in Ross 128, aaaaaah happy days!

If I got to the point that money didn't matter, I'd like to try and use my wealth to play the factions against each other, for my own benefit. There may be limits to what 1 player in 1 ship can do but it would be nice to see how much influence you really could have. Maybe it would even be possible to reach high ranks in rival factions:D

In FFE, working for both the Federation and Empire is, more often than not, counter-productive. Yes, you can gain favour and rise in status with one - at a cost of losing it with the other. So ultimately, you have to make a stand and choose one side or the other if you're going to really get anywhere in the Federal Military/Imperial Navy ranks.

In Elite: Dangerous it could very well be a different scenario with more/different factions, or a change in the old ways of doing things. I'm really looking forward to being there!

One man. One ship. One universe to conquer... and it's yours for the taking! :D

I’m an opportunist in a diverse Galaxy – I’m out for myself. However, I think initial outlooks will change for everyone as they start playing and interacting in the game.
I’m a sucker for the Underdog, like most Human Beings.
I wouldn’t mind visiting a Thargoid Cultural centre, especially for Visual Art. I’d like to understand their Alien Values and Emotions before eradicating it from the Universe! ;)

Thargoid cultural centre! This MUST be implemented!

Certainly the Feds. Just something with the provenance and I prefer the real star names which the Federation has in majority. Names like Facece or Enbexcehur kind of names I just don't get along with. Besides having an area of space that feels like home can be good. Also there may be situations when the fleet can come to rescue.

Otherwise I always wanted to work for the impertinent Sirius Corporation. Perpetual access to military fuel (hoping fuel prices will sky-rocket in game...).

If I was restricting myself to certain sectors of the galaxy, not straying too far, then I'd work for the Fed, Alliance & Independent Worlds, but since I'll be exploring the riches of the galaxy, not restricting myself from any part of it, I'll take my work where I can get it along the way. :)

From the original game with it's mix of anything from corporate state to anarchy and the GalCops patrolling the lot I always imagined them as a separate agency that hold allegence to no side but the rule of law so no matter the faction every system paid towards a sort of Interpol of the spaceways and was assigned a number of cops dependent on the contribution they made.

this helps to explain why it's so hard to get away with anything in the richer CS systems as they can afford to contribute the most to their policing while poor anarchy planets struggle to afford much as their method of government doesn't enable them to collect a whole lot of credits in taxes, it also explains why everywhere you go the cops all fly the same ship, otherwise the police force from a poor planet would be using a rag tag collection of patched up relics

with the advent of long range cobra's in ED starting randomly on the frontier of known space to explore the galaxy I would imagine an Explorer Corps being set up in the same way as the GalCops, with all sides sharing the cost and no one power reaping the sole benefit of new discoveries/trade routes and the like.

so, should I be lucky enough to have the option I'd join the cops for a tour or two followed by the explorer corps for a bit - both being outside the factions it should raise my profile with all of them and allow me to pick and choose my options from there
