While we are waiting, might be a good time to do the hutton run...

See my timings (post #18) above, second run for me was much faster (allied) then the first. Mission gathering took 35min.
For the sake of all those who do this run, let's hope RNGesus was being cruel to me rather than kind to you!:)

Indeed, We'll see on my next batch shortly, just about to arrive at Hutton 2min away. I'll post my timing for batch 3...

I did the Hutton run :p while I slopped off and watched Star Trek Next Gen lol!

Made 42mil in data missions but I wasn't ranked at Sol, next run should be better! Plus a mil for the rares as well... but tbh, the extra mil isn't worth the hassle, even if I switched to a JC parked up at Sol to do the 150+ly distance in a couple of jumps...

I did have a deadly conda on my tail the whole way there... but I just logged out to the menu when I was 20kls away then relogged back in - conda gone :)

Easy money if you have something else to do for an hour or so (took 1h28 from Sol to Hutton Orbital - official time is 1h26).

First batch of missions took nearly an hour to collect. Paying between 1 and 3 mil each. Total came to 42mil (2.1mil average) plus a mil for the rares if you can be bothered with them.

Second batch of missions (now allied) took 35min to collect paying between 3 and 4mil each so should net about 70mil per run or put another way about 40-45min of play time netting ~93mil/hr [2:15ish real time; 35+10min at pc].

I've done my Hutton Orbital run this morning of the 2nd batch of data missions from Sol while getting showered and dressed, breakfast etc...

Pay from this 2nd batch (allied) was ... a somewhat disappointing 58.4mil cr. still, a fair bit more than the 42mil for the first run.

For me there will never be a good time to waste my life doing a Hutton run.

Well, that's the advantage of having two accounts, one I can minimise for the run and play on the other and return to it for the last few min as I know the run takes 1h26m. Or this morning I just got washed and dressed :)

Hutton Orbital missions batch 3

Batch 3 (20 missions to Hutton Orbital stacked from Earth orbital stations)

I got the 20 missions in 29min. 3 missions I rejected and didn't accept because they were below 3mil (the minimum I accepted). If I had accepted the <3mil missions (typically ~2.6mil) I would have saved 2min (27min to gather the first 20 missions). Lap time recorded on my phone.

My method for mission gathering was land, cycle the three log groups [Solo/PG/Open] next station, cycle, next station, Repeat...

I did a rough tot up and I think this batch is worth nearer 80mil. I'll know once I've handed them in.

To be updated with final payout: 73.8 Mil Cr.

EDIT: Ah, just realised my Deadly SLF pilot is taking 9% of what I earn... Hence the low payout! She is doing well though having bagged 214 mil for sitting in the Crew Lounge! LoL Robbery in my opinion!

Were you allied at all the stations you used? Which stations did you go to?

I did all my board-hopping at Daedalus because that's where I'm allied, but if you were able to get enough missions by station-hopping in Sol without having allied status at all the stations, and getting them quicker, I'd be interested in trying that.

Hutton Run - Mission Batch 4

My 4th Hutton run netted 75mil for me and 6mil for my SLF pilot who is, to my annoyance, taking a considerable cut from my earnings while doing absolutely nothing (inactive)!

Admittedly, I spent the flight time plotting an exploration trip I have in mind in the galaxy map rather than at the helm... But at least I was present this time! [haha]

Yes, after the first run plus some charity missions, I was allied with all of the factions at the three orbital stations around Earth. Just fly from one to the next, do the three logs then move to the next... The first run made 42mil. The second 59mil I think (check up there ^^^)...

Its has topped out at ~75mil (aka 81mil if you are not paying a robbing thief of a SLF pilot!).

Thanks for this. I was thinking of getting allied at all the earth stations on general principle anyway; I'll press ahead with that. (I started at Daedalus because, being the Mercury Station and therefore closest to our sun, it's the obvious choice for a Sol homeport.)

It's never a good time to do the Hutton run.

Cr 40m/hr can make for some fairly good times![smile]

Incidentally, I've just checked, and the factions at the four Earth/Moon stations are the same as those at Daedalus. Being allied with all the factions there, I'm automatically allied with them at all Earth stations as well. Susanna, I shall look forward to trying your station tour suggestion.

Hutton Orb - Mission Batch 5

Total profit: 86,900,257 Cr of which my SLF pilot took 9% (7,821,002 Cr) leaving me with 79,079,235 Cr. Still, can't complain I guess.

Most of these were for 4.3Mil/mission.

Good Luck! Enjoy the credit :)

Hutton Orb - Mission Batch 5

Good Luck! Enjoy the credit :)

So I tried going round the Earth stations. Took me 42 minutes to get 20 data delivery missions. I took anything over 3 mill, and ended up making Cr 77m.

I'm sure I could shave some time off that 42 minutes, plus going round the stations was a lot more fun than spamming one board for the thick end of an hour. Not so sure that RNGesus will ever be truly kind to me - I suspect someone has whispered in His ear that I'm an atheist.

I'll probably leave this now until 3.0 drops. In truth, I have mixed feelings about using Hutton Orbital as a cash cow. On the one hand, the Hutton run is something of a rite of passage for ED players, and it would be a shame to see it sullied by the mundanity of money-grubbing.

On the other hand, I've found that having a cash cow to milk one day a week is very much the key to my being able to enjoy the game the other six days without having to choose between what I want to do and making credits. And since FDev recently sent my last cash cow to the abbatoir, I must milk where I can.

I've seen a couple of YouTube videos that claim it's still possible to make 30m/hr from passenger missions in 2.4 even after the nerf; and perhaps in 3.0 Smeaton, though no longer the money deluge it was, will still pay decently. If I can make Cr 30-35m/hr elsewhere, I'd prefer to leave Hutton Orbital to the suc- to the fresh-faced adventurers.

I've never done these before, and I think I'll give them a go. I rather like the idea of doing a little cr/h grind and then spending the rest of my time doing the fun or adopting a faction.

Uhhh...can I get missions to go to Hutton from a place that isn't Sol? I haven't re-acquired Fed ranks yet. :O

Yes, just check the systems surrounding Alpha Centauri. Wolf 359, Epsilon Indi and Epsilon Eridani I think I have seen some at. Wolf 154 might be another one.

Edit: 76M today from a run with about 30-40min of mission gathering at Earth.

That's cool, but I'm always slightly perplexed by people playing the game to make credits. Some ship and loadout you have in mind, or is just for the sake of it?

Genuine question. Not judging here. I play as a survivalist/adventurer/explorer, so there's a similar sort of grind involved in a way. Tagging some interesting systems or making credits could have a similar sort of appeal, I suppose.

Powerplay is a big money sink if you are aligned to a power that uses mats to expand and or prep. Fortification can also be costly but it doesn't usually cost as much as prep/expansion since there is no reason to go over 100% even if you are being undermined.
