Who else finds the botched VR on foot implementation, literally nauseating?

Wasn't pre-order from September 24th 2020 or thereabouts? (around 3 months after the quoted CM announcement)

Something like that but it could be cancelled up to and during the alpha phase.

Source: I cancelled my pre-order during the alpha as I didn't want to spend 10 quid on a crap suit or soundtrack.

Well, to be fair, they haven't said it won't happen and until they do, I'd hold off on the doom.
It would seem sensible to hold off on it until the performance and other issues are sorted. Then we might know a bit more on which way they will go.
Also, Odyssey is like a different game with different mechanics so it was always going to be problematic regards VR. like you alluded to with other games.
You probably lost the statement after Odyssey launch where they said that they have no further plans for vr at the moment.

On the OP question: Yes, kind-ah; There is little than makes me nauseated in VR anymore, but what negative effects I do experience, to this day tend to often be the opposite intended reaction to things that are supposed to be best nausea-ameliorating practice, including FOV reduction on turning (the blinkers you just put on me took away my spatial awareness, dammit), and Elite's horizon lock option, when driving the SRV... Everybody's nervous system has its own personal way of dealing with things. :p

"at the moment"...
Things may change, or not.
Until they say "not happening" then i'll hold on to a little hope and wait and see.
I am the eternal optimist of the forum though...just me, mostly.
It's probably best for ppl to think it won't happen anyway, then they can only be pleasantly surprised if they can make it work.

I'm almost afraid to say this but it would have been better if FDev had removed VR support entirely, until they could implement it consistently throughout ALL of the game.

Surely better to have VR maintained, and working in the EDO build?

More chance that in-house knowledge is retained, that the VR support is compliant with any changes made to Odyssey etc. (Gives them a running start if they do get to EDOVR properly, rather than a bunch of initial obstacles…)

And on the plus side we get to scoot vehicles around under atmospheres (and hand-held rocket fire) in the meantime ;)

Well to be fair, the PS4 reached the end of its life as a platform on the 19th of November 2020 when it was supplanted by the PS5, so I think it highly likely that the state of PS4 VR will remain on the negative side of "no immeidate plans" and or "nothing to announce at this time". Meanwhile back at the ranch y'all's lumbered with the grey burqa assaulting your vestibular system every time the player moves their head and the "cinematic virtual flat screen" remains still meaning the eyes and inner ear disagree on whiskey tango foxtrot is happening.

Well, i was actually very disappointed about the partial lack of VR in a game that was "built for VR from ground up", so i left the game as well... still hoping to return one day, but not before VR is properly implemented in all aspects of the game... the decision to discontinue VR implementation (or not at launch... we shall see, what this really means at some point) simply made one of the best VR experiences available a thing that simply feels incomplete.

Over 3000 hours in Elite VR, I am so disappointed in Odyssey That I only play Horizons, when I play.
Down to maybe 1 hour week “maybe” this whole Odyssey mess just kills any desire.
Odyssey planet tech looks terrible and the VR performance is unplayable.
I don’t see why anyone would want to play Odyssey in VR anyway.

"at the moment" that's entirely different form "not at launch"

Yeah, you know I have a tropical islands for sale you interested?

They've gone out of their way to not make any definitive statements concerning VR a great tactics to get the optimists to give you your money with the intention to never give them what they're hoping for.

If they intent to add VR legs to Odyssey they can say so but stringing people along like this...

Well lets just say it's not the most honest way to do things.

Add VR to Odyssey and you have my money if not I'll spend it somewhere else.

Great!

More importantly who cares?
Yup people are leaving a multi-player game, who cares? It's not as if it's survival depends on a decent player base for it's continued development. I mean I'm sure Fdev is going to keep it running until the last player leaves...

It'll be fine, new players are coming in all the time...

Did I mention I have a tropical island?

So there's going to be a PS5 version now?
