Why do i have 2 grids?

In the year I've had this game I've never had a grid on the ground AND under an item i'm trying to place. But now it's always there. It's hard to place an item perfectly on top of something else with a grid there blocking my view.

Grid height going up and down doesn't matter, still happens. Just wondering if there's something to make it go away.

It looks like the outer grid is relating to another 'building' - might be worth seeing if there's something underground relating to that building.

I'm creating the building for a horror heights ride. All 1 building not multiple. Starting from the ground up which is why the grid is on the ground. I've just never had a grid piece under something I click on to use to build.
