Why do I have to go to Reddit in order to find "official" information?

What? It's ok for a Reddit moderator to be passive aggressive and look down on me for not being a Reddit user, but it's not ok for me, someone with no need to save face, to be passive aggressive in return? Come off it.

Your own posts in this thread have been bordering on confrontational, so I'd be a wee bit wary of throwing stones.

You know, something really bothers me about this statement.

Why should the developers be forced to seek out the community, as opposed to the community seeking out the developers? This makes absolutely no sense to me.
As with all leading game developers and publishers, seeking out your customers on as many channels as possible is best for open communication with today's internet-savvy gamers. A tiny fraction of game owners will ever visit the respective forums; in the case of Elite, around 5% have accounts here, with a much smaller number being regular visitors according to publicly available statistics.

Hence why FDev also have their official Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram Frontier accounts to communicate with those respective social-network users, and also have official accounts on Reddit to communicate with /r/EliteDangerous users (and /r/PS4 & /r/XboxOne during the AMAs there).

Correct, but I'm also not a community leader so it really doesn't matter what I do.

Idk, thanks for your time Stuart, but it just doesn't sit right with me. The idea that a business would seek out its customers on a public forum, instead of being directed to the business by the moderators of that forum is just a bit absurd to me.
I couldn't ever see myself, or anyone I work with, discussing business matters on an unofficial website, and I'd go so far as to say that it's downright unprofessional. Because, make no mistake, this is a business, and everything they say and do effects their numbers. Reddit will get their clicks no matter what, I'd imagine Fontier doesn't quite have that luxury.

Why isn't the "official" information on your official site?
Why are you communicating important information through unofficial channels? Everything should be in your Newsletters or posted in stickies on your own forum, not Reddit.

All of the information is on the forums or frontier youtube channel.

Perhaps you were on the wrong forums. :)

Not sure if it's already been suggested, but perhaps an update to the launcher is worth doing?

Have a very clear section listing upcoming releases/streams/events/link to the latest newsletter.

Whilst I haunt the forums way more than I should, I'd still find this helpful.
