Why does Fdev seem to put the fewest resources possible into their most successful and lets not remind them "backed" game by the community..

They have the 'nice problem to have' of ... a large number of players.

So if they work on new features many will complain they aren't working on bugs (and many will complain they're working on the wrong features).

And if they work on bugs then many will complain they aren't working on new features (and many will complain they are working on the wrong bugs).

I don't know, but I think that's probably preferable to some of the other forums like JWE, which just has a post every few months asking about JWE2...
There is the option of investing more of the profit from the game back into staff and hours to fix and develop the game.

I doubt if they're converging for coffee. :coffee:
You honestly believe every time you leave your seat it will be for an immediate fragfest only? Come on, being pedantic about the announcement post of a couple hundred words is silly. If the Odyssey announcement is literally the sum of all the detailed game play coming with the expansion, then I think this community has greater things to worry about than just having to shoot someone on foot rather than in an SRV or space ship.

After three years of running around various planets and moons gathering mats in my SRV, I'll now be able to cover considerably less distance thus invest more time doing it on foot.
Why get in an SRV when you can fly over the surface?!?! Why get in a ship when you can holome across the galaxy!?!?! Why even have a physical representation of a player character and not just have a camera that you can move throughout the galaxy like a GOD!?!?!

I guess the answer to all of it is... because game play? I know FDev consistently get the shat end of the stick by the community, but if they literally just make legs an extension of SRV game play, then they'll deserve it. I don't think that will be the case.

Frontier needs to wake up and increase staff on ED 🧐

I keep hearing the term "maintenance" with reference to E:D from industry professionals who occasionally write on this forum, suggesting the game has been placed in a minimum input mode by the developer.

This is backed up recently by Drew Wagar in a YouTube video who, in a polite way, slated the games recent development, and seemed to suggest the game has been parked in the past few years by someone fairly high up in the management at FDev.

The recent road-map leak, which has proved to be fairly accurate claimed that FD are concentrating of making money from E:D currently - read not investing in the game.

This all seems backed up by my experience and that of many others I read here on this forum, with the plethora of issues with lack of fixes and what seems like a lacklustre approach in general to the game.

That came through the translator as "They don't want to spend the money". I'm probably wrong. :)
Lol!!!!

There is an element of that with any company with share holders (actually some of the snaller ones have owners just as careful!).

There was also the risk element I hi-lighted, with only a year to go, there is nothing dramatic that could move the next update closer without adding a fairm amount of risk, some which is quality risk - given where we are now, careful movement in the boat!!!!

Erm, it also mentioned the big roadmapped DLC. The thing Fdev claim most of their dev has been invested in for over a year and a half now.

Maybe there is some weird esoteric link between the two scenarios

Just give us the Code... well take ED you take roller coasters Frontier :) I guarantee there some nerdy ass nerds in the ED community who could develop odyssey in a weekend.
oh and then even I know.. I know we going a lil craaaaaaazy here.. but create a community goal. woahhhhhhhhhhhhh

ED heres some quick Idea's write em down....

#1 - Create stations with PvP attached to them. Almost like an "arena" you could que for it but within the system and its similar to CQC but on the live servers with your personal ships.... people could watch and cheer ... would make world pvp awesome... you could get as crazy as you really wanted to with this but theres an endless amount of ideas... Make them 1 weekend a month or every other weekend pvp arena night at "X" station... rewards given out server broadcasts winners and losers.... PvP needs some love. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 ... idk

#2 - give players the options to "prestige" in their certain , combat-trade-exploration ranks. Eventually adding skins, voicepacks... maybe even specialized ships or modules or engineers for those at certain ranks. Would add a easy hook to keep a lot of players going, it would be an option so if you wanted to stay elite all good.

#3 Kind of goes with #2 ... add more items based off personal achievement and not just cr sinks, material sinks and literal time sinks with the galatic power modules. Sure keep these in the game but I know it can't just be me who feels accomplished getting certain things based off an awesome achiement or goal I completed. I honestly can't think of 1 thing in Elite that requires any skill to get, kind of sad imo. These could range from simple to very difficult and in implemented in all the categories in ED..

#4 Just like the ability to pin modules 1 per eng was added give us something similar but with experimentals. I posted somewhere earlier an easy idea could be like a "data storage" of 1 experimental per 5 unlocked engineers, and 5 total when you unlocked them all. This would give new players an additional goal to get the engineers check out colonia and us players with more time a little bit of a breather when it comes to not just farming all the mats (not that it's hard) but let us play the game more not just fly to eng to eng making new builds all day.

#5 Why is there no "find" wing in the game ? we have find multi-crew but not wing? why is this ? Go to any forum and look around enough and you'll see people discussing they wish they had more options to find like-minded players to wing with. Sure we can go to one the many many discords, forums etc and find them but why must we use 3rd party tools to do anything productive in the game majority of the time ?

#6 FDEV TALK TO US ! You guys are like hermits over there .... I feel like the community cares more about this game then you do most times its crazy.. Sure these idea's arent the best but with some more time behind them I guarantee they could be awesome ..... and theres so many more idea's ive had as well as the community that are just straight awesome and they keep with the ideas of what Elite Dangerous was meant to be and is. I've never seen a community so passionate for the game they play and love ..

I believe Odyssey is an attempt to grab the FPS audience to the game. You're right, this community has greater things to worry about than just having to shoot someone on foot rather than in an SRV or space ship - how about fixing bugs which have been in the game for weeks, months or years? How about replacing the placeholders which have been in the game for years, with actual content?

Let's see if Odyssey has any content for traders, explorers, pirates, smugglers and dare I say it, miners. Anything beyond PEW-PEW.

I've had experience with being dumped before... :(

I'll wait until the 70% off Steam Sale. That cuts my risk considerably...

just focus on elite darn... you'd guys be in such a more amazing position as a business. Whats going on over there ?

I have no idea what you're on but Planet Coaster, Jurassic World and Planet Zoo were all top 50 sellers on Steam in the year of their release.

If you honestly think they could have pulled in the same money from Elite in that time, I don't really think this is a discussion I want to have.
