Why does Fdev seem to put the fewest resources possible into their most successful and lets not remind them "backed" game by the community..

Why is it that people believe if you can get out of your chair that the only activity possible will be a fragfest bloodbath? As if the first step you take off your ship anywhere there will be a CoD match going on. Is this what people imagine for elite feet:

You’re 40k lys outside the bubble. You land on a remote, unmapped planet. You look out your cockpit window and see a cave that you’d like to explore. You leave your seat, head down the exit ramp to... BOOM! Out of no where, 30 commanders are going at it on foot! Bullets flying all over the place! Explosions from grenades! You run back to your ship, go to the bridge and look out to the planet... nothing... desolate... you go back outside and.... BOOM, the 30 commander fragfest is back on!

I mean, really? There is nothing else possible on foot that could bring a new level of immersion and experience to the game other than death matches? Imagining that this is the only implementation for feet is actually amusing.
You will certainly get a new set of PvP/Gankers LOL. But I agree with you

I was told the invoking of Star Citizen or No Man's Sky is akin to nerdy Godwin's Law...

Why? You mentioned grabbing the Elder Scrolls/Fallout/Borderlands crowd. There's no way that crowd even wants to consider ED. Not in a million years. We have to be honest with ourselves here. Space simming is niche. The only crowd you're going to have a chance at pulling is from SC and NMS and right now ED is lagging way behind both of them in numbers.

If you've played the game you'll know and I only ask as I love the game with a deep passion but it seems abused ... hopefully Fdev fixes things eventually sure Odyssey is coming but so many broken things for years and not even the slighest motion to fix.

just focus on elite darn... you'd guys be in such a more amazing position as a business. Whats going on over there ?

introducing optional monthly plans that are cosmetic rewards + a boost to your ARX weekly could be enough so many dedicated players a lot would signup .. thats just 1 small way to increase income... but mroe focus on the game itself you would of kept tens of thousands of players who quit waiting for something to do. I just don't get it. but i'm just a wee lil boy
Reminds me of when I first had the game on xbox, we werent allowed to buy paintjobs for years. I remember discussing it with a friend that they were throwing money away because the npcs had paintjobs so it wasnt an engine issue. The same trend continues today. Lots of things players have continuously said they'd pay for but frontier would rather wait out their interest in the game than click a button.

The nice thing about the FO/ES people is we like to RP....So ED fills another part. I have my fantasy with ES, my post apocalyptic jerk ov fest with FO and now I get my Galactic outlet with ED.

Star citizen has to be a released game before i consider it completion for anything.

I have been one of the most ardent attackers of SC. I really hate the idea of PtW games, but they aren't afraid of that message and they have literally millions subscribed to their base regardless of that fact. I think it is because people get a sense you can truly do whatever you want in that game. People like options. Yet, the most people can talk about here is that they love the grind. The grind isn't going to bring in new players. Innovation will. FC's saw a nice bump in the population, but it's falling again because the patches and fixes in a 6 year old game outweigh the innovation. I had no interest in SC until I saw popular ED content creators covering it more in their videos...... and enjoying it.

It just tells me too many people have too much disposable income or spend irresponsibly

Who are we to judge how someone uses their money? Last I heard, you need to just buy the game. You can grind out paying for ships in things in SC with the in-game currency. What's wrong with that. People like the grind here, that should not be an issue.

I like Hawkes' channel. His videos have helped me get BACK into ED after a very long time away. What are the odds that he's about to livestream SC in 20 minutes that will highlight cargo mission runs and MINING.

Ironic.

I have no idea what you're on but Planet Coaster, Jurassic World and Planet Zoo were all top 50 sellers on Steam in the year of their release.

If you honestly think they could have pulled in the same money from Elite in that time, I don't really think this is a discussion I want to have.

yeah and those games will all be lost into the ever growing games no one cares about... All those hours could of been on elite. We could of been years even expansions past where we are ...

I can't imagine would ED would've looked like with all hands on deck in the amount of time it's been out.

They had dumb things to buy... who cares about skins. What about say buying an extra slot on your account to create another cmdr ? could put a 6 or 12 hr timer lockout if you switch to avoid some sort of abuse. Or how about increasing module storage to 200 ... 250 ... 300 as a purchase option.... theres lots of things they could do beside skins

Other MMOs have found ways to support their games and development with purchases that go beyond skins and actually help with in-game quality of life without having payware things tip the balance in-game. Who would even pay for Arx??
