Why FDev.. just why make this game so tedious on purpose?

Ive not played for about 18mnths or so. Recently returned to finish my trip to Sag A. This time, no HOTAS. K/B & Mouse only. Now this is making life interesting for me and prob for anyone who saw me try to dock at jacques in Colonia on roundabout route back to Jameson for the first time. Esp when the beluga entered the letterbox at the same time. Damn that was painful and embarrassing. I felt like a noobie, I messed it up so many times I was waiting for the station to swat me. Leaving was just as bad.

Edit: When jumping from system to system, mouse and kb are a whole lot easier than a hotus. It really simplifiies it with up/down for pitch and left/right for roll. It only gets tricky when docking or planetary landing. So for my my old x55 is now surplus and Im using my old cad 3dconnexion mouse and input device.

Really? Tell me how you came to that amazing deduction?
I was always under the impression I'm living in the 'now' as the future hasn't happened yet and the past is behind me, but I do understand that young children have issues with understanding the complexities of time.
Time is relative
if you fly really fast, you can be in the future ahead of folks being really slow ;)

This is simply not the case. You can not focus on the stuff that you like while ignoring the pieces that you do not like. You still need to do everything. But from everything just the most advanced.

You need to mine shards, trade down.
You need to scan HGE, trade down.
You need to scan Jameson, trade down.
You need to scan Wakes, trade down. (This one is the most lose though, since you can just scan random ships and amass data)

And you need to destroy a zillion ships to get Imperial and Federation rank to buy certain ships.
And you need to destroy ziillion ships to get Dangerous rank to unlock engineer.
And you need to run zillons of trade missions to get Elite Trade status.
And you need to run zillons of trade missions or hours & hours & hours of mining to get credits to buy ships & stuff.
And you need to jump your ship a kabillion times to explore. Or to do almost anything.
And you need to destroy a kabillion ships to get Elite status.

Like most games I have played ED is based on repetitive activities that a player either enjoys or not. Is this a shocker?

This is regarding the material trader.
Reading comprehension zero.

No. This is regarding the entire thread at hand. And yes it applies to collecting mats & material traders too.

Ability to follow your own thread. Zero.

You are obviously more focused on your rant than absorbing logical information being given to you.

Edit: Spelling it out more clearly: Most video games have a strong element of repetitive activities that players either like or don't. The activities you are discussing are a minor element of typical player gaming time/effort compared to the other repetitive activities listed. We get it... you don't like a bunch of the activities in this game. Fine, that's okay. Grow up, move on.

Then you should not quote that way if you mean something else.

While the OP is trolling us a tad,

There is something to be said about crap like HGE's and crafting requiring wake scans that no one does "naturaly"
as there is little to no native gameplay attached to its use.

Same goes for the diminishing returns of engineering past G3, it serves no pupose beyond wasting time for the completionists,
or Long SC distances requiring 20min of hands off flight.

This game is slow paced, which is fine and cool. I really like the chilling out experience of mining, exploring and trucking for
example.

On the other hand the game is riddled with time sinks that deliver zero meaningfull gameplay beyond spreading the Jam very thin indeed.
