Why Guardians Are Dumb And Not Cool

You know how Thargoids are still alive, and also really attractive? Guess what: the Guardians are NOT still alive. Which means they probably combat-logged. And that's bad.

Just saying, guardian-lovers.
I gather from the tone of your post that your date with that Thargoid went well. We all know Thargoids don't kiss and tell, so we need you to give us the details! Like, are the stories true about the size of their appendages? And the number of them?

:)

Timothy was born yesterday and is doing well. He's started on solids and will attend pre-alien killing machine school very soon.

Borg?!
I'll have you know there were Thargoids flying around in Elite while the Trek TNG writers were still an evil gleam in a parent's eyes.

But the question is, where they slurping up humans in '84? I didn't have the luxury of even knowing about the game back then thanks to growing up "in the sticks, sorta" in the states, so I was perhaps assuming incorrectly that this was new (ED era) Thargoid behavior.

They were certainly pulling us out of witch space and shooting thargons at us. And of course we were shooting back and scooping up their babies... Which is of course how @RELSPI came to be with us...
Some things seem never to change.

Their skimmers fall like wheat before my dune buggy and its feeble pew pew shooters. They give up their secrets with trash from their own sites as "keys". They couldn't keep their own toasters in line. Don't seem so awesome to me.

Can't expect much from a limpet specialist...

Edit: Even Aegis said: "We believe that Ram Tah's accomplishments, while impressive, represent only a fraction of what can be accomplished."

Well, to be fair, Aegis does know that humanity is capable of far more effective tools than what the Guardians have. I seem to remember that humanity has already had an AI uprising, which is why computers in Elite have less functionality than a 20th century toaster; plus, Aegis presumably knows about how effective INRA used to be against the Thargoids.

All we are waiting for now is for Aegis to get its act together and create a fleet of Mycoid-seeding, autonomously replicating, meta-alloy armoured, guardian hybrid drones to finally deal with the Thargoids.
