Why is the main game server so badly effected?

I cannot seem to be able to stay connected for more than 30 seconds in the main game now?
Is this a consequence of the Beta? If so why as I thought that would have been run through a separate server entirely, and if not then FD need to sort this crap out soon as I want to play a game and not be sent away for the next 4 weeks while this beta runs in the background taking bandwidth FD can't seem to be able to supply.

Seems to be affecting Xbox too, if my experience is anything to go by. :(

Not happy!

servers aren't really singular things anymore.

Most companies use amazon cloud services to host their stuff. They pay a subscription that buys them a certain amount of cpu power and a certain amount of storage and network bandwidth and other services. This may or may not also be dynamic, able to adjust with the load as necessary.

So when Fdev says "different server" it's more about an independent instance of the server. But this is all under an umbrella of one subscription between fdev and AWS (for instance). So it's shared. So, think, certain resources are fixed like maybe total peak bandwidth ....and this gets shared between whatever Fdev wants to run, be it 1 live and 1 beta server or 40 live and 0 beta servers etc. AWS doesn't care how Fdev wants to divide up their resources.

I suspect they are using virtualisation with cores / memory coming online as load ramps up... However, their contract (or their price plan at least) may stipulate a maximum number of cores / memory available.

It is highly likely that that limit has been reached.
