Why no Torpedo Synthesis??

Because it was a game design decision to make it that way. Game design. You're playing a video game.

Video game.

Oh really, I had no idea.

Though you missed the point of my exasperation post. I'm seeing Frontier break existing game design for convenience...which is why I take that analogy here. It really isn't that hard to follow.

They should be craftable, but crafting ammo needs to take time vs. the current magic instant crafting.

Indeed...even the most dumbed down survival crafting games have a minimal timer when crafting items.

Riiiight. Like instant repair of destroyed ships.

Video game.

We've been over this...instantly getting back into a lost ship is about being able to continue playing the game and has been established 'video game' design since before day 1.

Do I think one should have to fly around in a sidey until their ship is rebuilt...yes absolutely...but I cannot go against such monolithic precedence.

Add an ammunition rack module to the game that mentions in its description that it also contains the necessary weapon modification to allow in-flight reloads. Require a "Reload/Rearm" function similar to the "Reboot/Repair" sequence to pull ammunition from the rack module and put it in your weapons, meaning it would be a poor decision during combat. Then, allow synthesis to refill the weapon rack module.

Now this is a fantastic idea! Love it! Repped

I definitely think an ammo rack module is a great idea. If I want to sacrifice tonnage and internal space in order to carry extra rounds for an ammo-hungry weapon, well that's a fair tradeoff isn't it? Just like carrying extra fuel or extra shield juice.

Because the torpedo manufacturers have not agreed to license our ship's 3d printers to print torps...only stations are licensed for them. Same with every other non synthesisable item...our printers simply aren't licensed to print them.

ETA...hmmm...

Perhaps there should just be a 3d printer module...and engineer upgrades...Hacked License Firmware to allow printing of these otherwise unlicensed products...

Awww come on, dont be so bitey ;)
Sorry...I don't know if it is me or something, but I haven't been this bitey since Offlinegate. Only a few more hours until beer time (I don't drink during the week anymore, supposed to be better for me or something), I'll be easier going after that :p

Torpedoes.. I don't know what to say about them exactly...
I suppose for a massive Attack-the-Capital-Ship event, with hundreds of small craft (ok, even an Anaconda is small next to one of these) making attack runs against it, loosing a torpedo or 2 or 3 or 4 and running like mad for repairs they're probably awesome.

As a regular-use weapon, not so much, because they are stupid expensive, too few in number, and as you've noticed, cannot be synthed.

Torpedoes are in kind of an odd spot right now. They're extremely limited (only small/medium racks, 1 or 2 shots), very expensive, can't be synthed, and only do what, 120 damage? That's just two normal missiles.

So unless they have some kind of hidden attribute that makes them stronger than they look, I really can't see any use case for them outside of a one-shot shield popper with Reverberating Cascade, or if you really have a mighty need to heavily damage one specific module with its high breach chance (at least I seem to remember it having a high breach chance).

+1 Strawman point. Yay. These seems popular at the moment.

I mean any module that can assemble/fabricate/print stuff would need "amo/pieces/ink" and should obviously have a weight.
But why think when one can blurb out strawman arguments straight from the stream of couciousness, uh.

Not that much of a strawman, you do have lots of cargo space that could be filled with the raw materials. I understand it's a decision of FD's to make the game world work this way but it's really odd to be carrying 50 tonnes of hydrogen and run out of fuel!

Yeah, then you be hunted down by the most vicious of law enforcement: the copyright police!
