Why not a new Elite game?

If you like Odyssey than i fully understand the reaction, why would we need one? But, if you're unhappy with the difficulty running it on your PC, or some feature or other that means you just prefer Horizons even now, why not a new stab at the series? It would allow for new features, a more excited team and programmers that are comfortable with the new code, and our console brethren may even see a version of it at some point.

What did we lose with Odyssey, 30 quid? I paid Paradox Interactive 30 pounds recently, only for them to turn all the characters in the game into Ferengi's, with no bug-fix in sight. I paid Blizzard Interactive 10 pounds a month to run around a small patch of land repeating the same daily quests ad-infinitum, before asking myself, why am i doing this? I paid FIFTY pounds for a perennially unfinished game called Mount and Blade bannerlord, to carry on sucking and bugging out for years afterwards.

So why not! When this series has brought us so much pleasure, a new beginning in the universe of Elite dangerous, old disappointments left behind, a new fistful of relatively small cash at the ready as our entrance fee to the Braben rollercoaster, and a load of optimism back on the forums for once? Why are we such cheapskates? Come on, lets start over, it's not that big of an expense compared to other entertainment in general.

Frankly, given the amount of people on here who've said they're game developers (I really had no idea!) as well as the availability of the Unreal Engine that I've seen so many clamour for, I'm surprised an intrepid group of developer commanders haven't announced they've joined forces and started working on their own space sim yet.

Sorry, but i've got no intention of ever buying a game from Frontier again. And it's not even because of the console cancellation...i would have said the same thing last week, or even a year ago. I've seen enough. I don't like their absolutely glacial pace of development, poor design decisions, constant, constant never ending bugs, and a sore lack of imagination. I'm not buying Braben's pie in the sky dreams/lies again.

On the internet, nobody knows you aren't a game developer.

SotG Games is proud to present....
If we did it, the only available suit in the arx store would be...

With recentish purchases - I completely got my money's worth on the Ascent, Wartales, even CP2077 in it's current state.

Still evaluating Book of Travels.

I did not get my money's worth on Baldur's Gate 3, Pathfinder, and EDO.

BG3 because they are taking way to long to release. Pathfinder because of the stupid checkers game embedded in the RPG.

I'd say that EDO is the worst because of the ways it breaks EDH functional features. Too many too list to make the point - I could if you need the evidence.

Something really weird happened at FDEV design table to think that an expansion could so badly ignore the base game about space ships and think that it would appeal to space ship pilots.

So will I buy more FDEV products? Not for a very long time.

What would they change, they haven't fnished building this game yet, they've been upgrading it steadily for years. They have their own engine called cobra I believe, the graphics are already pretty good, and they're adding content to this game. What would ED2 change?

Naw, with consoles being shoved off the apron strings, and odyssey knitted up to passing fair, I’m sticking around with the PC master race until a panther clipper graces the deck of my carrier, strippers come sauntering out and invite me to take it for a spin.

im guessing by October.

[...]
Source? It would still be the same people creating the same game. We even had a code "refresh" or whatever that quote called it.

I can't recall in recent memory a good game that had a better sequel, but happy for someone to prove me wrong maybe I just never played it.

The rebooting of the Assassin's Creed games. While they're not really much to do with the original concept of the series any more, AC: Odyssey was far better than AC: Origins.
Although Valhalla is definitely worse than Odyssey.

I'd also argue that Doom Eternal was better than 2016, it's a close run thing on that one.

Funny, I'd agree with Doom but not AC. But thanks for thinking of one, I was sure I'd miss at least one I'd played. :)
