Why should I play in Open Play when I´m not interested in PVP?

I bet they will still complain. It's strange as open mode can be "easy mode" without a big problem. Don't fly around big player hubs and it's "easy mode" with only one or two CMDR contacts every 4 hours (in T-9 docked in a station).

I really don't know why people want to force others into open mode. It makes no sense to me.

If it is not different then why play solo?

@OP you play for the interaction.

WRT NPCs and interdictions, the forthcoming update would seem to be changing that somewhat. As a primarily private group player myself, providing the NPC incidents are balanced/scaled according to player/wing capabilities (e.g. no Elite anaconda's hunting down Harmless sidewinders for instance) I see little reason for complaint.

I have been interdicted by bigger vessels or more deadly NPC pilots and while I may not have been able to defeat them or scare them off I could still escape. To me, if there is no possibility of escape from a difficult NPC encounter then the balance is wrong. If you can escape, but choose to stay and fight despite the odds then you have to be prepared to take the loss on the chin.

Unfortunately once docked, you cannot see other CMDRs anymore (since the scanner is replaced by the station interface). If you scanned and noted a CMDRs ship before docking you can find them again via contacts, if not, bad luck. I suggested a while ago (in the Gameplay forum) that you should be able to see the scanner even when docked, maybe one day this will be possible. That would make friendly chat inside stations a lot easier.

seems to be a classic. however i only see lots of threads of the 'reason #774329 for going solo' type. good for them, and there are valid reasons, but most of the time it's just venting because of something that can even be the poster's own fault. either way, people in open may not be comfortable with these opinions going unaddressed and inducing new players not to really try out for themselves. after all, they are in open because they like contact, the more the merrier :)

but it's all good, there is enough going on in open and solo is fair game for anybody.

At this point i have to say that I´m a trader and fly a Type-9.

send me a friend invite. next time we're both on, if you're not too far away i will be glad too escort you for a while in a fdl. if you get interdicted, i'll do my best to protect you, but we may still both go down. but at least you will have something to tell!
