I was already excited about the Beta based on the live streams. I can't wait to dive in. But I have to say that waking up this morning and seeing the class 7 power distributor slot being added to the Type-10 made me especially happy. Why would this be a big deal?
Firstly it shows that Frontier does listen to feedback. I read a LOT of the feedback of the Type-10 and there was near universal disappointment in the class 6 PD. It just stood out like a canker sore on an otherwise excellent design. Buffing the PD was the most dominant request by far from the community for this ship (OK, the spoiler too but I happen to love the spoiler). For those who claim that FD doesn't address feedback please look at this case where they clearly did!
Second, it gives the Anaconda some much needed competition. Finally the game has a non-rank locked competitor to the Anaconda. The Anaconda will be better at some things (exploration for sure, probably mining) and the Type-10 I feel is better in other areas (bulk trading, armed trader). There will be raging debates over which ship is the way to go, and those kinds of debates are good for the game! It's no longer straightforward which ship is a better upgrade over the Type-7 or Type-9 for traders. Both of them are so capable. Gotta love the Lakon cockpit though, right CMDR's?
I for one will be rarely using my Anaconda from this point on. It's the Type-10 or the Cutter for my heavy lifting, and that makes me very excited! I might even change my INARA signature to point to my Type-10, the Karakoram as my main ship as I really love this ship. I can't wait to fit 3 medium mining lasers on my Type-10. Gosh, when I G5 charge enhance my class 7 PD are 4 x large burst lasers a reasonable option now? So many possibilities! Not every Type-10 will be restricted to loading up on the multi's or the anti-xeno weapons.
