It uses some AWS specific cloud services, so running a local server wouldn't be possible without some rework. Even then (and despite what people think regarding the use of P2P) it would require some major cash to offer an open experience that enables any number of players to have "twitch gameplay" instances anywhere in the galaxy goverened by edservers. You'd probably have to keep the numbers quite small somehow...

I'm guessing it says you have a crap purple hat....?

Could you imagine what kind of electronic nightmare exists with the code in this game? I'd expect trying to alter anything resulting in us being sucked into a Tron like hellscape where Rubbernuke has taken over and is making us all do powerplay.

Oh come on dude, there's a time and a place to bring up such nightmarish ideas. Imagine racing against Rubbernuke on one of those bikes, where he's trying to stab bits off of you, to grill on his sidecar that happens to have a firepit in it.

You're really pushing the limits of the watershed. And my sanity. Which is saying a lot.

Well, I only said powerplay, so I did try to keep it pre-watershed. Although I do expect the reality of what would happen if he got control would make Cthulu blush.

Sorry, my time machine is still out of service. I tried to book a repair but it's a long time until there's an opening...
CMDR Thrust from Bradford reports some spaghetti issues with v26.1.7 of the code on GitHub 2. Mostly due to weird patch jobs on the water reflection shaders used for the Moray Starboard hull.

:D S

Short answer would be no, if you think of it simply as to allow it to be open source they would have to release the Cobra engine as well in some fashion whoch i dont think they want to do at present. Maybe in 3306 might get a version bit not 2022 ;)
