General Will the Elite Dangerous Universe become free?

I've never understood the reasoning behind the SC community claiming no loading screens when it takes circa 20 odd minutes to fly to another planet and variants of time above and below this.

As Mr Hat states I also do Not understand this misleading post title, although I did enjoy the video pointless as it was.

To be honest FDEV probably had a choice, put in a jump and use it as a loading screen, or put in a fake half a minute of flying through space and pretend it's seamless. At the time they made a choice, to use a jump and use that to load the assets. Seamless would require the ability to cancel the transit at any time and at that point observe any assets in range, SC does give the ability to cancel the transit, but then you have to initiate another transit to get anywhere, so no, not seamless, just the pretense of seamless.

Honestly there's enough trickery around that FDEV could easily have pretended to seamless but they chose not to, I think it was a good choice.
 
You can sometimes see the moment something happens to a planet in the far distance - it’s like a brief shadow flicker over the entire globe. It could be when the planet is loaded, instead of being a distant sprite.

The planets are inflated cubes that get progressively more detailed as each square sub-divides, the closer we get. Assets like starport cities pop into existence from several hundred km’s away.

As for Glide being used as a loading screen - seeing as you can drop into normal space above Glide altitude and (slowly) fly down to the surface from there (it takes a while!), I’d say Glide isn’t a hidden load.

From the last Q&A with Dr Ross, it sounds like the tech is changing in Odyssey.
That's one of the things I am looking forward to in Odyssey, to see how the new planetary tech changes planetary approach and glide, will we need to relearn some skills? It should be interesting, forget the bang bang, I don't care about that, there are more important things to be checked out!

I suggest that the developers remove the loading screen from the game, which turns on when traveling from one star to another, that is, hyper-jump in its current form. I propose to significantly improve this aspect of the game by making it immersive, by removing from the game this repetitive journey, which consists of viewing a themed loading screen and which is not a journey. As an example and to understand how it might look, I recommend looking at a game called "Space Engine". There are no loading screens in this game, you can stop at any time and change your destination. While traveling, we fly past the stars that are actually in the space of the game and you can fly to them in real time.

How does this work with fleet carriers. The only way to move them is by jumping. There is no super cruise.

Also there is a question of fuel. Without the jumping, almost all the time you'd run out of fuel before getting out of the system you're in. It would also take the fuel rats decades to reach you if you did run out of fuel in between systems.
