11,000 players - I bet many of them explorers - turned up for an exploration event.
Now, we all know how that turned out.
But, if there's one good thing to emerge from the event, its that explorers have proved to Frontier - yet again - how hungry they are for content. Which isn't surprising since we've been fed crumbs for years now.
So, I hope that after Q4, Frontier consider adding more exploration content, and don't think "Right! That's the exploration stuff done, time to get back to creating more combat content." This game has been stuffed with combat content, especially since 2.4.
I dare say there's more combat content to come in Q4, despite that being focused on exploration and mining. We know that fleet carriers and ice planets have been put on hold due to an adjustment for content focus which adds "significant new gameplay". But, what is that gameplay based on? If it ends up being more combat, my screams of frustration will be heard in Sag-A.
The audience for exploration content is there, Frontier. The massive turnout to Gnosis (and the reaction to that event) proves it beyond doubt.
If 2018 was Yet Another Year of Combat, then 2019 should be The Year of Exploration. I hope Q4 is just the beginning of that overdue journey.
