Oh wow, i didnt know the Eagle has it THAT bad, looks like outright scam.I just discovered this issue myself. I applied the "midnight black" paintjob to my Freeagle, and this is what it looks like in new condition:
More of undercoat gunmetal than a "midnight black."

It's not even black at this stage.. compare that with my pic of the courier above.

I hate you... That looks altogether too nice, it didn't look so good in the preview, now I'll have to have it!Seems like only a few ships have that issue with the paint. On my imperial courier it looks alright.

Hmmm that cutter one especially is more like it should be.. it's definitely accepting more shade from the light around it that's now bouncing back off but then you look at that eagle pic and it's not even recognizable as black.. either something is off with specific models or it's all in the lighting balance of how the ambient light is reflecting.

Yeah I just checked all the hulls I have stored locally & they all seem ok.
That FDL is still pretty charcoal lookin as is the courier.I think most are ok now
It's definitely less matte than before, sure, but the Phantom for example was looking much worse with the matte.
It's just a matte(r) of taste I guess.
You can even see how the ship kit is darker than the main body of the ship on that FDL.. I'm glad they are continuing to improve them though.

That was always the case, and still is in many cases. Has nothing to do with Odyssey.
MY midnight blacks are all on my xbox account as are my ship kits, will check it later when I get in from work.
For some reason they have always been subtly different, as if they don't inherit the lighting exactly- especially on the broad wing pieces. The big wing extensions on my Krait Mk 2 always had this issue.
Sorry, I left my Carrier in Coriccha and am back at Mudhrid without the FdL.
