Again, the focus on this changes are NOT fixing the problem (The trash missions overfloading the board) those changes will only deny the hability to chose missions from the player.

Four and a half million votes?

Yes.

I never board flipped until FD started flooding boards with useless missions I couldn't take or made no sense to take. Long as mission boards don't offer contextually relevant missions and offer RNG lotto for appropriate missions I will miss board flipping.

And note - since it is now FD design to prevent it, if ppl figure out a way to reload boards, then sure - I'd agree it's an 'exploit'....but calling an exploit something FD clearly implemented and players decided to use is ridiculous. By that definition, anything FD implemented and a player used exactly as that mechanism clearly works but someone else doesn't like is an 'exploit'

Don't like someone using the handbrake on an SRV to prevent guardian sentinel shots from flipping you backwards? 'Exploit!!'

Don't like someone using a weapon FD designed to go straight and explode on contact whatever it hits, but player uses it to kill skimmer from ship? 'Exploit!!'

Pretty easy prediction to make, at some point in future FD will have to revert or significantly change dedicated mission board server because offering 10% more for useless missions is still useless. Just wait and see. I'll necro this thread next year when it happens, inevitably.

Are you trying to claim that a completely out of game and out of character action like logging out and back in to cause the universe around you to change to your benefit is a legitimate aspect of game design intended to be used as such?

A good thing to consider too:

They are changing the BGS - in the BETA the BGS seems to be completly broken there are a few of reports from people that are testing the BGS that systems are creating missions that are NOT related to the system status - in much cases completly EMPTY boards on boom systems.

Now tell me, how people will can play if the bgs continues to be broken on live (I bet $10 on that) - now that even the board flip don't work? - So we will just need to ignore missions until they fix the new BGS? (2-3 Years Remember, the old "actual" BGS already have 4+ years and are NOT perfect yet)

So, good luck with that guys.

I know - You all want to defend they don't matter how dumb is the move - Just remember that now we will have a massive change on the BGS + the end of chosing missions.

Nope. I board flipped all the time to fill up my beluga with passengers and I'm glad it's going away so I don't have to do that anymore. My beluga will probably just collect dust now though unless they really increase the amount of missions offered.

If I were a poor commander I would miss it terribly.
However, the ten minute "lag" is not so awful because one could darn socks or multitask whilst waiting.

I have darned a lot of socks.

I did not do the beta, so I am looking for some specific feedback from those of you that did.

1) Did the total number of missions increase for a given board?

2) Did the diversity of mission offerings increase for a given board?

Thanks!

Exacly the point in there.
Nobody that flips WANT to flip.

The flip is the synthom of a big problem - that will become even bigger (or not if people just leave) - They will not increase the missions - They not propose this and ADAM give a direct response to people in the mission server thread that THEY WILL NOT INCREASE the missions.

Reading all these posts where commanders say they never board flip is kind of funny. Tell me that when ranking up Federal or Imperial that getting three data missions was ok
and you didn’t do a board flip to get 12 missions to unlock that shiny new ship.
When unlocking an engineer and trying to get Allied with a new faction you didn’t board flip to get missions to help get Allied with that needed Faction.

Everyone I have talked to while in ED have board flipped all the YouTubers I have watched board flipped.
I have board flipped when nothing interesting was available and one flip for a whole new set of missions.

I have all the engineers unlocked, all the ships unlocked and now only board flip to find interesting missions not for credits.
I feel sorry for the new commanders that will have a much longer road to unlock ships and engineers.

If the game devs themselves put that mechanism in and I used it exactly as implemented without using some hack, hex edit, bypass, etc of that mechanism...then YES. Just because you don't like others using a dev provided mechanism exactly as it works without any other player intervention doesn't make it an exploit.

It's not an out of game interaction - I'm using the in-game menu. If using or doing anything out of game that results in some condition you use in game, then anyone reading inara or coriolis shipbuilder is also exploiting by your twisted logic.

Second, if the universe around you changing to your benefit = exploit, then every time you've died and been revived with or without insurance buyback is an 'exploit'. There you are 20k LY away, you smack into Planet X - ship explodes and die. Magically, universe changes to your benefit. Instead of having to physically repurchase and rebuild your ship - a magical copy down to engineering mods is instantly provided for you...to your benefit...changed by universe around you.

You also wake up magically 20k LY instantly beyond any in-game mechanism of FTL - by your own words, the universe around you changed to your benefit. To normal people this is just a game mechanism, quality of life practical feature - too bad about 'immersion' but practical to do so. Same for C&P wakeup in distant prison station. Practical yet again, universe changed around you.

What your real beef ought to be is why FD put in the original non-dedicated mission server mechanism in the first place. FD put up a wall. FD strung some rope over it for ppl to climb over the wall. FD also put in a door right next to the wall. Some people climbed up and over the rope, some people just walked through the door. There was and is NO sign that says 'Illegal - do not use this door'...and no player in the dead of night constructed that door without FD permission.

Your true salt in wound here is your immersion or whatever demands you use the rope so god damn it, everyone else needs to as well.

Congrats, FD changed it - and as I fully concede above, NOW that FD has changed the implementation then sure, it's an exploit to figure out some non-FD provided way to reload the mission board. As it stands currently though, until 3.3 goes live, gnash your teeth all you want, doesn't change the fact anyone logging in and out to hit another server is simply taking advantage of an FD provided means with zero hacking, bypass, or 3rd party tool prying open a non-existent lock.

Hi All,

i will be missing it, finaly finding my missions i want to do.....
loving haulage missions, enough to choose from....
Will it be after no more board flipping???

Will you be missing it???

i understand the imersion thing... but still i like to make credits (even though i have more than enough, its a addiction thing :))

You should have been in game in 2015, you wouldn't have lasted

OK... I have never board flipped to try and get specific missions to rank up in order to unlock a ship or when trying to get allied with a faction. There, I said it.

Everyone I have talked to while in ED have board flipped all the YouTubers I have watched board flipped.

No offense, but 'the people you have talked to...' is no more relevant than when Republican voters say 'everyone I know voted Republican, so the Democrats must be fixing elections'. As for YouTubers...

I have all the engineers unlocked, all the ships unlocked and now only board flip to find interesting missions not for credits.

I have all but one engineer unlocked and own more G5 engineered ships than I can manage, and I'm glad I didn't grind my way there, and that more ships will eventually unlock as I keep playing.

Board flipping has lost a lot of it's usefulness. Small scale long range smuggling missions worth filling an Asp or Python with ? Gone, along with almost all smuggling gameplay and excitement. Stacking massacre/scan missions that all complete in one fell swoop ? Gone. So I probably won't miss board flipping much, though still a little when I'm hunting for specific material rewards for the engineering treadmill.
