will you be missing board flipping????

Looking for a Pirate Massacre Mission, FORGET about it
one thing that irks me about those is that they are never local - if V886 Centauri has a problem with V886 Centauri pirates, why the hell do i have to go to the LFT926 system or Shinrarta to find missions for them? surely someone in V886 itself would have noticed and raised a red flag...

re wing missions, "hey guys, let's deliver 4,500t of stuff for 800k, that sounds like a sweet deal!" ...said no commander ever...

Yes, the mission board was crap most of the time even with high faction rep. If im going to A from B, it would be nice to have a full hold.

Did chain missions ever improve?

Not really. This change should allow a better re-balance of missions, with more consistent patterns of player behaviour FDev should be able to expand the options on both difficulty & reward a bit, with low-paying easy missions & higher paying more challenging ones.

What timescale this actually happens over is unbound ;)

Yes im gonna miss it, unless the board will be filled properly.. and not with 1000 massacre missions..

They at least need to triple the amount of missions we have now if they want to stop boardhopping.

I am currently earning roughly 25-30 million per 15 minute lap running passengers between Robigo and Sothis, making hay while the Sun still shines as it were but having to leave at least one cabin empty each lap because I cannot flip the mission boards. Flipping boards is nice when I spend over 500 million on a (Type-10) ship advertised as being the amazing, awesome Thargoid battle-wagon but isn't and I have to recoup my loss.

Quick question,

I tried that passenger thing out as its a brand thing to me and I got there with my passenger liner conda and proceed to take passenger missions but for each mission there would be different amounts of people and I would be short of filling a cabin by as much as 6 passengers which I could not fill with another mission with 4 passengers.

Why? I did a lot of evac missions and I could pack passengers in like sardines with loads of missions of 2 passengers in a 10 passenger cabin.

How come I can't do the same at robigo?

VIPs dont like sharing cabins so they dont share cabins.

Depends on situation. On one hand I found board switching totally game breaking. I wanted to play the game - not constantly log out/log in just to get few missions. Board flipping isn't game play. So for that reason I won't be missing it. But on the other hand, if the after patch mission boards be equally bad mission wise, then I'll miss that flipping a bit. Having a possibility to manually reset board to get a mission in stead of those previous bad was a good thing. You didn't have to waste 15 minutes for board to refresh.

If new boards would provide 2-3 mission to the same place, then good riddance with board flipping.

No, i never did it and actually i never understood, why i should do it... Meta gaming in general is killing the experience and virtual cash and progress bars wake no passion in me... I want adventure not statistics.

I never board flipped. However I have suffered from FD flipping the board for me.

Often I have seen two passenger missions that I could take (same destination) but needed to add an extra cabin so I could take both. I will accept one, go to outfitting, fit a cabin, then go bacck to mission board. Hey presto, the second mission has dissappeared and a whole host of other missions are in its place.

So I guess morale is if you want to refresh board just click onto outfitting, store an item, retrieve it, and then go back to missions board.

That will entirely depend on what missions the new dedicated missions servers are going to spit out. So long as we have no say in what kind of missions are presented to us, it will probably still be mostly trash missions I have no interest in taking. Chances are, I still won't miss board flipping, though, I'll just be playing something else instead.

If the mission board does not have what I want, I will close the game and restart it, until such time as it does, or go play another game.. Simples.

I think if the 'new' way is inadequate, then yes board flipping will be a hugely missed work around.

Board flipping imo is page flipping. Never, have I purchased a product catalogue, looked at page 1, not seen what I want, and gone to the shop to purchase another in the hopes that page 1 will be different.

You page flip until you find what you're after. You board flip until you find what you're after.

That said. If the new system is adequate, and produces the results I need to enjoy my chosen activities with no time gate / blockers... then absolutely not, I'll not miss having to reload the game to compensate for... inadequacies.

Looking fwd to try it out.

Yeah, when doing BGS play I check stations 1, 2 and 3 and board flip them. No suitable missions ? Get lost ED :|

Then I play something that does work without being aggravating. Like KSP or Stellaris.

With boardflip gone, it's going to get worse, not better.

On the plus side we will all be too much distracted by the new mining and exploration to mind to much. At first.

No increase in generated missions, mission board refresh time reduced from 15 to 10 minutes.
Can't see that completely falling flat on it's face at all....

I won’t miss board flipping at all, BUT I am concerned that it’s deletion will leave mission board’s largely neutered for a lot of players. The problem is mission generation leaves a lot to be desired, and players looking for specific mission types relied a lot on board flipping to find said missions. Without it finding missions might be terribly difficult, and my fear is it will be so frustrating that a lot of players will simply give up missions entirely.

Frontier removed the workaround without addressing the reason why it was needed in the first place. Not a good way to improve a game in my opinion. The mission feature needs a revamp to actually address the real problem with the system: mission availability.

Is it good (aka, not suffering from the famed egosoft lauch bug epidemic) ?

I'm tempted but got burned a few times XD

Offtopic but man, this last beta update from EGOSOFT just made X4 much better (Wars and better turrets).

Back on topic now, i'ts cristal clear that removing the board hopping widouth fix the problem that made people HOP is a dumb desing decision, i'ts also very unpopular and there are proffs that alot of people just don't agree with it - But in the end i'ts their choise - Their are the DEV's so they think they know the better patch that the game must to follow (Like the FO76 Dev team).

I really like ED, but i will not spend time anymore trying to argue things that devs and people can see if their just open their eyes, thankfully this niche of game are recieving more games - If they continue on the nerf patchs and so on and nobody anymore play this game i'ts their choise.

This game are already know has a hard game to play, we already are considered "nerds" or so on to play a complex game like this - And all the changes (Even the changes that i like) that will happen in 3.3 will made the game much more dificult, with alot more keybinds and firegroups and they are removing player options (To blaze you "own trail" ) on each update.

board flipping still a thing?

I can bore myself with other things. So, don't really know.

*shrugs*

edit: so that's a no. won't miss what I never liked.
