Winged exploration

I think a lot of explorers fly alone by definition. I'd like to see winged exploration, though. The more exploration-related options, the better. :)

It's probably the "do explorers never read suggestion forum" anyway. It's not like the developers acted on any of the explorer feedback last time around either :D

As for your suggestion that wing members should get credits (but not tags) for exploration even if they aren't in the same system: sorry, but no. Back when I asked @Alec Turner to ask a developer in person whether multicrew (not winged!) exploration is really meant to give no rewards whatsoever, he said the dev who replied also mentioned that they don't want to give players a way to earn credits without doing anything.
Which is exactly what your suggestion would allow, so it's not going to happen.

Ok, that makes sense. So... what is winged exploration, what do we expect from it? Is exploration simply an activity that has no need for wings? Is it just an opportunity to get several tags on the same body, but too cumbersome to do it on a regular basis?

Winged exploration: as long as members are in the same system, shared tags, same credits for everyone. There are two main approaches to it: one is the "let's get over the FSS quicker", the other is "let's all go farm ELWs". The former has wing members staying together so that the minigame goes quicker, the latter has each member going their own way, noting down where ELWs can be found. Then the wing gets together at regular intervals, and they all go to scan the ELWs they found.

In the former case, explorers get information faster. In the latter case, explorers get credits and tags faster. So you can either do a thorough survey or a cherry-picking one faster. There are uses for wings in exploration too. Now, carriers also help with organising people to stay close(r) together.
