Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

I really hope for whatever pack is going to get me my Gaur. Apart from that, a mountains/temperate pack could be really neat if it came with musk ox. Those are the species that I personally "need". I really appreciate the oddball adds aswell, as Nile lechwe, dahma, binturong and cuvier, even if I didn't know I wanted them until we got them, so whatever new species we get I'm excited to see, unless they are too similar to what we already have (meaning both in appearance and niche wise)

I literally don't care about any new animals or scenery anymore.

Except for the walrus.

I need the walrus. If we don't get the walrus I'm gonna cry!!
I haven't been to many zoo outside my country so I've never seen them IRL. Are they regular in zoos? How big habitats are they usually found in? Really curious about them

Just curious, but why not the ghost bat?

Because we just got an Australian bat, but we still need a bat from the Americas.

Flora, Yes. Montane Rainforest are characterized by reduced diversity and biomass of woody plants with increased numbers of epiphytes, ferns and mosses. With higher altitudes also conifers are starting to appear (right image) and leaves of deciduous become smaller and thicker.
Generally, for example matschie's tree kangaroo uses this environment and especially mosses to camouflage itself in trees. And thick fur protect it from colder temperatures in highlands. Afterall climate of new guinean mountains is apparently temperate. Vastly diferent flora than in lowlands.

Oh well, thanks for the deep explanation with pictures,I really appreciate it. I kinda knew a bit about montane rainforests, it's just that I think it can be difficult to separate them from other rainforests for the non trained eye. Epiphytes, ferns and mosses are also common in other lowland jungles. Temperature is very different but it can't be seen.
But in comparison with the guereza for example, which in Ethiopia lives in the tiny strip of forest between the lowland savannahs and the highland grasslands. Or all the animals living above the tree line, that's clearly a mountain dweller.
I think just the same about the wolverine in a mountain DLC. It's an animal from the tundra and the boreal forests, it doesn't really need the height. I don't know if I'm explaining myself.

If the next DLC is an 'Aviary DLC' & there was like 25 animals in the pack, what would be your roster?

My roster:
  1. Hyacinth Macaw.
  2. Goshawk.
  3. Brown Pelican.
  4. Eurasian Eagle Owl.
  5. Resplendent Quetzal.

  8. Indian Eagle Owl.

  25. Grey - Crowned Crane.
@Veah what would be your roster

Given that we've gotten a pack that's marketed as a desert pack but is also a (not so) stealth Africa pack, and a Oceania pack that's a stealth temperate pack, it could sense to expect some kind of theme to match both continents and biomes again. We could be looking at a North American/Highlands pack, North American/Tundra pack, European/Highlands pack or European/Tundra pack...

I really do think that the next animal pack will be Highlands. I am almost certain. As we've seen, Frontier doesn't always stick with the seasons regarding a pack's theming, but they still do the majority of the time. I also believe we'll get both the takin and markhor. I've italicized the animals that are my own personal wish or species I'm just less certain about. I think this pack would easily tie up the Asian roster's loose ends, except maybe India (blackbuck). I honestly think the taiga biome needs more love than the tundra biome.

Highlands Animal Pack:
1. Spectacled Bear
2. Hamadrayas Baboon/Gelada
3. Pallas's Cat
4. Sichuan/Golden Takin
5. Markhor
6. Golden Phesant or Himalayan Monal
7. Wolverine
8. Giant Salamander? (E)

I agree with you, especially the part I set in bold. Sure, a Tundra pack would be able to include the Walrus and the Muskox. Aside from those two, I think most of the animals would be able to fit in with a Taiga/Highlands theme. To be honest I may be wrong but I'm thinking the Muskox can live in higher elevated regions, but not necessarily mountanous regions. Meanwhile the Taiga/Highlands opens up a way for many many more animals over all. Either way, I'm just glad the Wolverine has the push and popularity it does, and can fit into either theme.

The Yak is missing.
Heheheheheheheheheheeee, wipeout

Personally, not bad, but I'd do it this way:
  1. Spectacled bear
  2. Gelada baboon
  3. Pallas's cat
  4. Golden takin
  5. Golden pheasant
  6. Himalayan monal
  7. Domestic yak
  8. Mountain horned dragon (E)
Almost the same, but the wolverine is more of a tundra animal. In every pic I see them, I don't see them on mountains. Also, I'd prefer to have the monal and pheasant over the markhor and takin

EDIT: Why does stupid autocorrect change in to I'm?! It's real dump

Noooooo you can't get rid of the markhor 😭

I would have it more like this:

Mountains Pack:
  1. Yak.
  2. Spectacled Bear.
  3. Brown - Eared Pheasant.
  4. Indian Leopard.
  5. Golden Snub Nosed Monkey.
  6. Blue Monkey.
  7. Blue Winged Teal.
  8. Black Mamba [E].
  9. Green Winged Macaw [WE].
  10. Great horned Owl [WE].

Problem for me and this roster is that without the Wolverine, there’s only one top 10 meta wishlist animal (baboon). Usually we get at least 2, plus even though we got 2 birds in this pack, I don’t think we NEED 2 birds for a pack like this. In the quarterly battle of birds vs mammals, mammals win it this time, I won’t even complain if we don’t get any birds. I don’t think they’re necessary for a mountains pack. Plus I think having 2 of the same kind of bovid (cattle) is a stretch, Markhor and takin in the same pack are different enough from eachother imo.
