Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Savanna/Safari would fit, I know not many people like that pack idea but it could definitely work. Other than biomes, Endangered Species could also work.
So you say shrublands is too much of a cross between packs we already have, but you list Savanna and endangered species, which are copies of conservation and arid? Scrublands is at least a fusion of 2 packs, Savanna and endangered are just copied.

So I brought this up earlier but I feel like no one saw it, but do you guys think Scrublands is a realistic biome for a pack next year?

Would certainly cover some popular names like the Secretary Bird, which they’re gonna have to put in one way or another cause the Wolverine will 95% be crossed off in the winter.
Scrublands specificly idk. But i think its rather likely to see another pack next year that focuses on these sort of theme. Can also see them calling it the savannah or safari pack.
With the secretary, blackbuck, mara, rhea, honey badger, there are definetly more than enough requested animals to make such a pack

I honestly see scrublands more likely because its at least a mix of arid and grasslands, Savanna is a copy of arid exactly.

I know, I'm just not sure if "Scrublands" would sell with the general public, meanwhile the other two, while being sort of retreads are probably more easy for people to digest.

We've already had that. It's what Conservation was supposed to be.
I highly doubt anybody is going to see an Endangered Species animal pack and be like "we already have this". Any Endangered Species pack would basically just be a grab bag animal pack, I don't think it clashing is a big deal at all.

It's not about what "anybody sees", it's about what Frontier's intentions are. Just like how we're not getting a Nocturnal Pack (that was Twilight) and we're not getting an Islands Pack (Oceania) and we're not getting a Desert Pack (that was Arid). I'd go so far as to say we probably won't get an Africa-majority pack ever again.

It's entirely possible that Frontier doesn't plan on adding the secretarybird at all, no matter how high on the wishlist it is (possibly the walrus too, though for different reasons - ethical concerns about how they're kept in captivity and such). Maybe they see it as an aviary bird (I kind of think this is why we haven't had an ibis either) and don't want to add it as a open habitat animal (cranes and flamingos have historically been kept in open-air eclosures in zoos, whereas ibises and secretarybirds tend to be kept in aviaries - generally speaking). I'm not writing it off, just spitballing.

I guess they could do Endangered Species if they wanted. I just don't think they will.

This doesn’t prove Scrublands out of the running, scrublands can cover Hamadryas Baboon, Serval, Honey Badger, couple popular african ungulates. If they choose the right African species then I don’t think there would be nearly as much backlash, just like how if we got the Secretary and baboon in arid there would be way less feedback.

For the past 4 packs an animal from the top 3 of the wishlist has been included, I don’t think the Secretary Bird is an outlier here.

The secretarybird is an outlier for many reasons. It's unique to any other animal in the game, and in real-life has very different requirements for captivity. Frontier does their research. As I said - I'm not writing it off. I'm just saying, it being high on the wishlist isn't a guarantee.

What baboon species would you prefer? I’m more partial to the hamadryas
Hamadryas of course, but at this point I'll take any (any true baboon that is - the gelada doesn't count and wouldn't cover it).
An outside candidate is the Tanzanian Blonde Baboon. It's underrated in baboon discussions, but you should google it it's really cute.
I unironically want this animal.

Biome packs that’ll have the Secretary bird? Cause after Coati and Wolverine are in that’s their next target, and I can’t see another theme it would fit with (other than birds obviously)

Savannah ( I genuinely hate it but there's some loose ends in Africa that would tie together nicely in here)

Endangered pack. I would see it as a spiritual successor to the conservation pack, but as an animal pack.

Educational pack. It's the only still living member of its taxonomical family, and also one of only two terrestrial birds of prey. Not a bad species to fit in here.

Carnivore pack. I'm not the biggest fan of this idea but we can't say it's not a possibility until support is done really.

Plainlands - can feature multiple continents and fill in a diverse roster especially as an animal pack, (secretarybird, baboon, serval, golden jackal, gerenuk, ratel, cobra jumps to mind as a roster with a quick glance at the metalist)

Idk just a couple quick ideas where it could fit

Yeah I did, I don’t think they need to be aviary birds though, I think they would be fine out in the open when you compare it to the other birds we have. Frontier doesn’t really care about the housing a lot too. The kiwi is 90% in night houses in zoos, but they showcased it in the broad daylight, aviaries are possible to make custom, so I dont think there’s any reason they can’t add Secretary Bird.
