Conveniently my most wanted animal is a bird…
Definitely birds over aquatic animals for me. I’d find aquatic habitats frustrating with the current lack of salinity and there are two many species of fish and hideous invertebrates to include. With birds, I feel a couple per bioregion would scratch that itch perfectly.
My top 5 favorite zoo animals of all time:
Arctic FoxPlains Zebra- Bat-eared Fox
FlamingoReticulated Giraffe
However,
If I could have 5 animals all peacefully in my backyard:
There isn't a single bird so honorable mentions: Demoiselle Crane, Flamingo, Any Dove (or Crowned Pigeon)
I have cool idea: IF you could have 8 animals in your own land what would you choose? There is a catch: one of them needs to be WE or Exhibit... haha

Most updates recently have one big thing, one medium, and one small in terms of how big of a change / the effort that is needed to make it. (for example, last update: Domes - Big, Orangutan Brachiation - Medium, Penguin variants - Small)

Enhanced guest complaints to reflect the demand of gift shops. Like how does a zoo where giant pandas are the main attraction run out of giant panda plushies, most disappointing visit to the Edinburgh zoo ever.
Would a foliage brush count as medium? I'd love that.

@yoav_r if it is indeed a scenery pack I think this goes very well for having a tundra pack. Eight tundra animals are much harder to include realistically then five. I would think this would rule out a Latin America pack as there’s no benefit to being a scenery pack vs animal pack imo. Could be a highlands pack but you’d think it would be a animal pack. Here’s just a hypothetical theory that makes sense in a lot of ways. One again HYPOTHETICAL. It could be our last pack which imo would be birds that could feature both a scenery and animal pack in one. Aviary building sets and birds. I do however doubt this since Latin America adds so many much needed animals.
What makes you think they are part of the update and not the pack itself?
Dont you think Planet Zoo mug with capybara on it is weird scenery piece for a pack ?
It does not make sense to include pieces from the gift shop in a pack and have the shop in the update or worse, have the entire shop in the pack. We have gotten tour guides, restaurants, walkthrough exhibits, and so much more big buildings and big mechanics its almost like whatever the feature is that has to do with guests, we get it in a free update because its either easier for financial/logical reasons (singling out the WTE here) or its just something that shouldn't' be exclusive to a DLC. Like do you really think they would put a gift shop behind a pay wall? And including only the pieces in the pack would make even less sense. "Heres a gift shop for free, oh you wanted the items like mugs and shirts and stuff? here buy this pack:"
Making an animal pack just makes sense. The update gives builders something to play around with while the animal lovers get 8 animals. Also getting gift shop scenery really doesn't seem like a good enough reason to change the schedule and give us back to back scenery packs.

Depends on what we're talking about with birds. Wolverine if we're just talking about habitat birds. As much was I want things like the Shoebill, Secretary Bird, Swan, etc...the Wolverine comes first. If we're talking about Macaws, Eagles and other birds that could show up in walkthrough/nonwalkthrough exhibits? then the birds all the way.

With the WTE its different though because they add onto it later on with butterflies, flying fox, sloth etc.
yes i get that it was necessary to add to the base game to later add more WTE animals in DLCs. If you get the building in a DLC then you are forced to buy at least two DLCs if you want some other animal than the fruit bat.
I personally think (wish) that eventually, maybe by end of support we'll get a base game WTE animal as anniversary or free update idk.

Small: variant for one animal from DLC aka special part of ,,free,, update actually put behind paywall: random shot Reindeer.
