Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

I think the golden snub nosed monkey is amazing animal. It honestly is but apart from China nobody has these guys. I’d take almost any other monkey in PZ. Woolly, howler, spider, squirrel, colobus etc. If by some chance we get them I’d enjoy them and build for them but out of all the primates we could get not including baboon I really don’t think the GSNM has much of a chance.

Okay. If we can have only three species of flying birds in the rest of the game what do you pick?

1. Any owl, preferably Long-Eared or American Barn Owl for me but any owl will make me very very happy
2. Roseate Spoonbill
3. Harlequin Macaw but if we could have a couple more colours then add Harlequin and Military

I really don’t care which monkey are going to get if any.

But please don’t tell me that one species is better and more deserving from the other because it’s just not true.

And to be true I hope you are going to get your baboon one way or another @CharlieXGaming

I have nothing to add to speculation that hasn't already been said. To be honest though, I don't really care all too much what the theme is - I just got my dream pack and I haven't even had the time to build for everything in it yet.

Assuming its an animal pack, I just hope its more diverse than the last. I'm finding it a little sad how normalized it is both in fan-made rosters and official packs for carnivorans and ungulates to have multiple representatives (I get that people are following Frontier's pattern of what's realistic - but I'm sure they still look at our rosters to see what we want at the end of the day, why not slide in a little more diversity?), and yet whenever the same is done with birds (a far more diverse group) its somehow "too much". With how far behind the habitat bird roster is compared to mammals I would think we should be seeing at least two per animal pack. Surely something like a crane and a duck are just as, if not more distinct from one another, as the multiple felids and canids that have been included together in packs before? Birds are an incredibly diverse group, they aren't some monolith. They fill completely different niches (many of which the game's roster hasn't even filled yet) and one getting in shouldn't negate another. The kiwi and the little penguin are both some of my favorite animals in the whole game, but I don't think they should fill our "bird quota" for this year, especially since they both feel like big ticket birds rather than the filler species the game is even more sorely lacking in.

Kind of a messy thought dump, I dunno. I just hope Frontier listens to the positive feedback they got with Oceania and we'll start seeing multiple birds per pack as less of an exception and more of a rule, at least for animal packs. I'm just finding it kind of ridiculous just how far behind in both numbers and diversity they are (the fact that we only have three birds that aren't penguins or paleognaths is insane to me) and I'm feeling like its getting increasingly harder to justify things like yet another cat or a bear over something like a stork or a swan. I'd happily take just one, its better than the zero Arid and NA had.

You should pick something else other than the spoonbill. I think those could be achieved as habitat animals

For me would be

1. Harpy eagle
2. Andean condor
3. Snowy owl

But is so hard cuz hyacinth macaw, quetzal and lammergeir are all very wanted by me. But i guess those three are my favorites.

I change your long-tailed for LION tailed macaque. Now, that is a true necessity.
Both great, both would make me do a happy dance - it's the long-tailed for me bc that's the type I can't build a good Indian / South Asian temple without. They're iconic!

My three choices would all be tropical forest birds:

1. Golden conure
2. Red-billed toucan
3. Ross's turaco

That trio would make Amazon forest aviary possible 🤩
I would also love an owl.
