Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

I mean, the scenery would be cool but animal-wise? What could it contain? Emperor penguin, Elephant seal, what else?
Leopard seal would probably be the most iconic antartica so definitely that animal the pack would probably contain an equal mix of seals and penguins and some marine invertebrate unless they chose to let us have birds or cetaceans
Polar Animal Pack (Antartica itself does have a more limited animal roster so this is like Arctic pack 2.0 or animal pack version)

  • Walrus
  • Wolverine
  • Arctic Hare
  • Musk Ox
  • Snowy Owl
  • Lemming
  • Puffin
  • Sea Otter
If a pack labelled polar does not contain a single antartican animal I will scream just name it tundra or north pole if your only doing arctic animals again.
Looking at the picture it seems like all of the fully visible items are safari animals.
I can see at least 2 definitely not safari animals and one more iffy choice has nothing to do with safaris
I have cool question for yall, what you prefer to get in PZ, Birds, Fully Aqautic Animals OR! Your most wanted animal/fav animal?
my fav animal is already ingame fully aqautics have the greatest capability to be added properly when compared to birds if its full free flight habitat birds that anything else aquatics
Why is no one talking on the fact it seems we are getting a scenery pack rather than the expected animal pack this time around?
they are all in denial
Why is that? We haven't seen any new scenery pieces. Have we?
timing typically dlc release on a tuesday if we get the livestream on monday and dlc on tuesday it will be just enough time to tease each animal before a pack release on the 12th. If it is an animal pack they will have to speed up the teasers by at least 2 days for a 12th release or spread them out over 14 days instead of the usual 9 to release for a 19th release
The fact that we are getting so many modular pieces in the free update actually makes me think we are deffinetly getting an animal pack.
This is the exact reason I think it will be a scenery why introduce something so reliant on scenery which is usually pretty limited in the free update for an animal pack. If we get both scenery for the giftshops and an animal pack something will suffer either the animals will be weaker more clone like or the scenery will be very limited for the gift shops and be practically useless imagine we only have like the 10 toys we see and how unusable it will be.
Most updates recently have one big thing, one medium, and one small in terms of how big of a change / the effort that is needed to make it. (for example, last update: Domes - Big, Orangutan Brachiation - Medium, Penguin variants - Small)
I'm assuming the Gift Shops are the big feature, what could the other 2 features be?
no way the domes were more effort than the orangutan but in terms of suggestions the ideas been thrown around maybe changing the suns direction on all axis's and a medium sized on could be retexturing of a few animals or like null exhibits wall and roof.
It does not make sense to include pieces from the gift shop in a pack and have the shop in the update or worse, have the entire shop in the pack. We have gotten tour guides, restaurants, walkthrough exhibits, and so much more big buildings and big mechanics its almost like whatever the feature is that has to do with guests, we get it in a free update because its either easier for financial/logical reasons (singling out the WTE here) or its just something that shouldn't' be exclusive to a DLC. Like do you really think they would put a gift shop behind a pay wall? And including only the pieces in the pack would make even less sense. "Heres a gift shop for free, oh you wanted the items like mugs and shirts and stuff? here buy this pack:"

Making an animal pack just makes sense. The update gives builders something to play around with while the animal lovers get 8 animals. Also getting gift shop scenery really doesn't seem like a good enough reason to change the schedule and give us back to back scenery packs.
I could totally see a pack with alot of gift shop related items such as a museum pack with maybe different kinds of plushies info displays and all sorts of educational stuff to go with more museum display pieces and animals such as the peres david deer
I will honestly be so confused if they dont add deep diving for the Nile Monitor before support ends
please we need this also give it some new skin as well
I don't understand how some people can be against the fact that a species would enter the game. I mean I have my favorite species too but I have never been against one I don't particularly like. At best I can be disappointed but I'm going to buy all the DLCs anyway. Or maybe I don't get a joke here 😬
the monkey wars are a joke between a few people I think but overall the hatred of animals comes from a sense of falsified scarcity that frontier has created by making the future always unclear everyone automatically assumes the next pack is the last of its a fight to see whos animals make it in so an animal that you will never use feels extra bad because it may mean what you want can no longer be added.

I think most of us are pretty accepting of almost anything, but there's probably something that's "very last" choice for anyone just like we have our preferences for inclusion as well. I try to be very accepting of what other people want, insomuch that the one species that gets mentioned a lot to include doesn't have coding to support its inclusion at this time.

That lineup from a few pages back of the Markhor, Wolverine, Takin, Gelada, Pallas Cat, Monal, and Spectacled Bear is great, I'd replace the Monal with the Himalayan Tahr. Oh the irony of me, desperate for habitat birds and what do I do when one is suggested? I replace it.

Okay. If we can have only three species of flying birds in the rest of the game what do you pick?

1. Any owl, preferably Long-Eared or American Barn Owl for me but any owl will make me very very happy
2. Roseate Spoonbill
3. Harlequin Macaw but if we could have a couple more colours then add Harlequin and Military
Bald Eagle
Toco Toucan
Hyacinth Macaw (the pain of choosing only one macaw is real)

Exacly. I’ve had that with Oceania pack.
Really liked plants but animal choices has done nothing for me personally even though they made a lot of people happy so I guess they were needed.

I explained why I think so in the post you quoted. The everyones in denial part was more about people seem really against the next pack being scenerny for some reason
No ones in denial or against another scenery pack, its just extremely unlikely, I listed the reasons here:

This monkey war is both serious and hilarious.

I find the Golden Monkey to be a complete waste of a choice. We get primates so little a year and getting one that is number one not wanted very much on the meta wishlist, number 2 an Asian primate which we already have gotten several primates from recently, number 3 would be very similar to the proboscis monkey and wouldn’t add very much to the roster in terms of variety, and finally number 4 there are better primates that can both represent mountains as well as look new and unique and actually add something different to the roster. We don’t have a baboon yet, and it puzzles me that some complain we didn’t get a baboon in arid and now with a second chance to get one people now flip sides to this clown.

After several hundred pages, something happened looking at this post… I slipped and fell and now I’m in the GSNM cult. Does anyone know where I pick up my robes? Feeling a little overdressed…

Edit: and it was a post against them! Then why use such a good photo?! 🤣

Tried to make a fair argument, wasn't fair by adding an ugly picture. Tempting, but not fair.
I hear you setting the standard Charlie and I bow to your sense of fairness. I will raise my bar :) your guy is truly a beauty, it can't be denied

Why even bother convincing people of the golden monkey when the opposition does it for us :ROFLMAO:

I'll try to be even more fair, I'll make an honest pros and cons list:

Golden Snub Nosed Monkey
Pros:
  • Colourful & Attractive to a general audience.
  • People who want more Asia rep are satisfied.
Cons:
  • Outside of China it is very rare in captivity.
  • Similar to the Proboscis Monkey in terms of importance to the roster (which to be clear is not that important)
  • Wouldn't add too many new behaviors than what we already have for things like the proboscis monkey.
  • Would add yet another asian primate onto the pile of asian primates we have gotten from packs all the way back to SEA pack.
Gelada
Pros:
  • Unique to the roster, we don't have any "Baboons" in the game (I know its not a true baboon but it would fill the gap).
  • Colourful, maybe not be as colourful as Hamadryas but is still colourful.
  • Big one I didn't think of until now, Baboons spend most of their time grazing around on the ground, since we know frontier challenges themselves with the climbing mechanics, would it not be a better decision to go with a monkey that spends most of its time on the ground?
  • Would be the first African primate we get since the B&W ruffed lemur (which was low effort being an anniversary animal).
  • Would use the chorus behavior (Video below).
Source: https://youtu.be/JbdQumeqo50?si=HCxdBkzm5u3mm93G

  • Has a variety of other species it can be combined with for interspecies bonus (if we get them in the future such as barbary sheep, hyrax, etc).
  • Can introduce several unique animations like shaking fluff in the wind, their upper lip thing (idk how to describe it).
  • Common in captivity.
Cons:
  • May not be the most appealing to a general audience, however this can be worked around by keeping it out of the key art.
  • Would require a bit of work for new animations however with the rest of the roster being mainly clones (bear, pallas cat, markhor, takin, etc) I think enough time would be provided to add detail to this animal and its behaviors.

That's photoshopped and you know it
I know you're just joking but fyi it won a wildlife photography award ackshully 😁

I'll be very honest. Please don't kill me. For me, Highlands pack idea is just Arid pack 2.0. Every animal that I've seen is or a reskin or very similar to other animals. I hate the idea of having another "identical to already in game" dlc, is not what I'm looking for. But if the community wants it, what I can do 😅
